Green Room - Week 20 - Day 5

It's kind of interesting (well to me anyway) that growing up I used to have some of my *best* days on Friday the 13th!

But I got up this morning already feeling pretty crappy and started to post the Green Room and suddenly remembered the date and went "Oh, yeah - no wonder!"

(especially since I'm supposed to have my review at work today!)

I wonder when that transition happened.

Or if it's just one of those things and as a kid I went out of my way to *think* of it as a good day, and it became a self fulfilling prophecy, whereas as an adult things are *usually bad* so of course it's bad on that day too!*G*

*shrug*

I was going to take Wed off work, but then we were supposed to have an important meeting. We had a meeting, but it wasn't exactly "important."

So, my supervisor offered that I could have today off instead. But, I figured that I'd save the PTO for the Monday after WrestleMania.

So, here I am, laying in bed and thinking "I could take the day off. David said I could." Except that today is the last day of the pay period, and David is going to be in an 8-hour off-site meeting today. So, he can't put in my PTO today, he would have had to have done it yesterday before leaving the office.

So, because of my procrastination I have to go to work. I guess that's good, because I'll have the PTO later. And, I can read the Green Room while running reports and stuff.

I'd just rather stay here, under the covers, with Creamsickle laying across my ankles. (Get up, kitty.) (Mowww.)

My Mom always had some of her best days on Friday the 13th...and some of her worst on Good Friday (she broke her arm one Good Friday).

I've started the day with an lj based RP; it's going to be a good day. :d

I have tons of interesting new reads to look at for both pleasure and to pick apart for dialect/word choice/whatever so that maybe, just maybe I can submit a story somewhere with C in it (who's bristling at the fact he's having to change his dialect, heh) Hence the questions regarding Harry D of the Dresdan Files yesterday.

I plan to sit back, relax, do some job searching, and maybe some other things.

My nerve block is starting to wear off, but so far I'm not in excruciating pain. Except for this spot on the inside of my ankle that has been hurting for like 12 hours now, even before the nerve block wore off. It feels like where the one incision probably is, and the sensation is like the wound is sticking to the cast. Not much I can do about it though, so I'm trying to deal.

My former (and I can't get used to saying that!) co-worker is supposed to be coming to visit today, and my future baby daddy (yes, I said baby daddy) is coming down for the weekend to babysit me, so it should be a good weekend. My girlfriend is OTR, but having them around will put her on her best behavior. :)

I brought cupcakes to work today that I made (from a box mix) last night in honor of tomorrow being Valentine's Day. They are butter-yellow with strawberry frosting... nom nom nom! They are also bribes to ward off any bad Friday the Thirteenth Ju-Ju that might be hanging around!

I had to get some bloodwork drawn this morning (boo) but the tech got it in one poke (yay).
I'm at work (boo) but the phones are being good (yay).
New BossMan started work this week (yay) but apparently at the end of the month he's being transferred to a different team that needs him more (boo).
I still have a bunch of entries to read for this week (boo) but at least I don't have to gnaw my nails to the quick about the poll results any more (yay)!

All in all, I guess it evens out!

There have been a couple of really interesting "meta" discussions of LJI in personal journals. I am not sure if people would be willing to have some of the same conversations here, or if the GR is just too public a space (and too much of a social arena) but I am willing to try. Feel free to respond to any/all of these, or suggest your own?

1. Self-promotion -- Have you in the past asked for votes in your own journal, asked friends to "pimp" you, posted about LJI in a non-related community? Will you in the future? Do you think any of those make a difference?

2. Other-promotion -- Do you make rec lists? Do you think your rec lists help YOU ? Help your fellow competitor? Will you make them in the future?

3. Saving a friend -- What do you think about saving votes until the last couple of hours to affect the final outcome? Changing votes?
