Tribal Council - 6
Feb. 19th, 2021 05:30 pm*ominous music starts to play as the contestants file in to take their seats*
I'll bring in our Jury...
jenwithapen, bittyjane, megatronix, impoetry, n3m3sis43, Minikin25, wolfden, lawchicky819, bsgsix, swirlsofpurple, eeyore_grrl and last week's surprise departure, bleodswean

Through all sorts of mishaps and circumstances, thew 6 of you managed to escape voting someone out last time. But that luck has ran out.
This time, it's for real.
halfshellvenus - You're safe this time. Unless something crazy happens, you have made it into the Top 5. How does that impact your decision this time around, knowing that whatever happens, you are going to make it through?
gunwithoutmusic - There was a vote last time, but before the votes could be read - bleodswean had to leave. Which means there is a really good chance there is someone sitting here today is in a worse position than they think they are. Does that factor into what you do this time, or is that week gone and you just move forward the best you can?
alycewilson - Next tribal council is the last time anyone can use a hidden immunity idol. One hasn't been played in quite some time. Is there any concern that they are out there somewhere, and are about to come into play?
flipflop_diva - As a fan of the game, does it play on your mind at all that you didn't see those votes? I know other people are acting like it's OK. But the last vote you saw was 4-3, with one person who was back at camp. In theory, that could have been a tie vote. The following vote, you never saw the results of... I know you don't mind a blunt question, so here's a blunt question - do you think there's a chance that person who would have been eliminated was you? Or was it someone else who caught a lucky break?
murielle - You were the only one who was willing to take the chance to grab that bottle, and take a chance at shaking up the game. It gave you safety at the back to back tribal councils. Did you learn anything from watching events play out, and not having the pressure? What would you have done if you hadn't picked up the bottle, but someone else did, and you had been forced to vote back to back? Is it better to have been safe, or to have a say in who is eliminated?
adoptedwriter - Listening to murielle talk about how she wants to protect her pack, and singling you out as one of them, what is your reaction? You're the person she mentioned outright as someone she is trying to protect. Is that a good feeling knowing she has your back, or does it concern you that with such a small group of people remaining that she's telling everyone else "I have an unbreakable bond with her"?
Round Two
adoptedwriter - You "LOL"d the response of needing more "range" but what was it about this particular prompt that made you decide it was time to talk about your adoptive Dad? Obviously, it's a lifetime of stories involved. What was your process in picking out the memories you were going to highlight? After going to the same well twice, "LOL" aside, was it important for you to remind people of your ability to shape a personal narrative?
alycewilson - This was definitely an important story to tell. I'll admit, I didn't see you going in this direction and I'm glad that you did. It's the personal story with an universal lesson. You've been writing in Idol for quite some time, and I can't think of many times that you've done into this particular period of your life. (Maybe you have and I'm just blanking out) Did the prompt "shake" the story out of your head or was it a case where you thought of a few options but decided to go with this one?
flipflop_diva - You decided to sit this one out. Real life issues aside, is there an advantage to NOT competing? Can you argue "If I go to the end, people won't vote for me because I didn't write something every week" - given how vocal some of the people over there on the jury have been about taking the "strong to the end" though, do you think that would work? Or, despite the numbers, do you think you have the majority and don't have to worry?
gunwithoutmusic - I'm glad you were able to label your thoughts and emotions over this in the appropriate jars before putting them on display. I've been guilty in the past of letting spices expire, so I can't really judge. Although that is pretty rare these days. Do you find yourself, in real time thinking about "oh, I could tell a story about this" or does it usually occur to you after the fact?
halfshellvenus - I agree with those commenting, for someone with a bag full of tricks already in your arsenal, you managed to pull out a new one. Other people have already gotten into the imagery and the development of the elements, so I'll grab something you mentioned in the comments and just follow up on that - were you able to tap into that dark place, even if you aren't currently feeling that way? Or did you just let that mindset wrap itself around the prompt when you were writing the piece?
murielle - The master of the cliff-hanger comes through again. I know you like trolling me by throwing in food references into the chapters of this story. Did I miss one, or did you run out by throwing everything but the kitchen sink itself over the last couple of weeks? :) I like the change-up and how the story has been going down some interesting alleyways. Do you have a landing place yet or are you still sketching it out one week at a time?
(more questions to come)
Final Question (for everyone)
It's pretty straight forward - why should you make the Final 5? Why do you deserve that spot?
***
halfshellvenus - You have the immunity necklace. I suppose it's silly to ask - but the question needs to happen. Are you keeping the necklace or giving it to someone else?
(without hesitation) "I'm keeping it Gary.
OK then. It's time to vote.
Send the name of who you would like to eliminate from the game at clauderainsrm@gmail.com by Tuesday Feb 23rd at 5pm ET. If you have a hidden immunity idol, and you would like to use it, please notify me at that time.
