The second of four chances to get back into the competition starts now!

Once again, it's a Open Topic, which means you can write anything you want to write and once again, it's a short time period in which to do it!

So if you have been previously eliminated, or never got into Idol in the first place - now is a great time to jump into the shark infested pool!

Green Room - Week 10 - Day 7

When I see something I don't know much about, I ask questions. Sometimes they are dumb questions. Other times they are unintentionally dumb questions. ;)

Some of the time these are asked in order to get a general idea of where I should start looking for further information. Other times it's because I really am not interested enough to go digging, but I'm interested enough to hear from someone else who was, and who has already put in the work! :D

I find myself asking a lot of questions when it comes to "stories about celebrities" these days, because for the most part I have little to no knowledge of who these people are, what they have done with most of their life/career, and why people are talking about whatever it was that happened to them.

I have a similar blind-spot when it comes to "things that happen in Canada". Because you might as well say "Narnia". They are equally real. Canada is just Country Fanfic!

Don't even get me started on how much attention I pay to Canadian celebrities!

(In truth, if you "get me started" on it, that's a really short conversation)

It usually tends to be something "of note" that people are talking about, and it sometimes makes me curious on what, if anything, my stance would be on it - if only I knew a little more on the subject. But right now, I'm just feeling really outside that particular box. Most of the time I just assume that my friends lists know what they are talking about, so I go with their default "I'm pissed off about it!" :D

Being pissed off about something you hear about online seems the safest route!

Wow. This one is both surprising, and difficult. The only thing that I can say is that it was really close - and the fact that we have the Second Chance Gauntlet going on right now gives me hope that we haven't seen the last of them.

No one was scheduled to be eliminated from Weird Sisters, in fact they did quite well. However one of their members, for RL reasons, needed to throw herself on the live grenade, sacrificing so that someone else would survive another day. Which means it's goodbye as well to watching_ships

I hope to see at least two of the three of you back in the SCG mix. (Unless the third one ends up free in the next couple of weeks, and then I'd love to see all three of you!)

Work Room - Week 11

This morning I was thinking about asking stupid questions in order to find out about what's going on. Maybe you saw that Green Room.

When I was thinking "What do I want to talk about in the Work Room tonight?" I kept going back to it. Because I was thinking about how people respond to those questions - what they say and what they don't say. I was thinking about how you can go online and find a source or three to back up pretty much every conceivable opinion someone could have on a subject, and several that you can't believe that anyone would actually say out loud.

This, of course, brought me back to the subject of writing.

In your entries, you are the one crafting the POV and control the flow of information.

It can be fiction, non-fiction, poetry or whatnot (especially the whatnot) - in that space where your words hold sway - you control the horizontal and the vertical.

So how do you determine just how much is going to get out there? And how much does it change from piece to piece? Do you find yourself changing that up? I'm not just talking about "what perspective do you write in", I'm looking at the flow of information itself from these characters - and how much of it reflects on the type of person you see yourself as being?

That last bit is heightened for non-fiction of course, but it's definitely applicable to every other form of writing, or creative enterprise.

It applies to Real Life as well: How much information do you let flow about who you are, and how much do you keep back? It's an every day of life issue, that often enough gets solved without too much thought for some, and too much for others.

Do you find your narrative voice ends up being the same? Or do you purposefully try to change it? What happens when you *do* change-up your every day voice for another?
