The results are in from last week resulting in another Write Off: https://therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/1170999.html
and the new prompt is up: therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/1171200.html
I suppose it's time for an update. Although *tap tap tap* is this thing even on???
I went to FEST in Gainesville last week, the 3 day punk music festival. Although we went to Pre-FEST as well, so it was a 4 day adventure. We checked Cynthia's Fitbit afterward and saw that we "walked" (some of it was dancing, but I'm sure most of it was walking in between venues) over 30 miles during those 4 days.
I have spend the last several days completed exhausted, to the point that I'm not feeling great today and took the day off. Pretty sure it's not COVID. It might be "FEST flu" but even then I'm suspecting it's just sheer exhaustion and being dehydrated.

It's a really tense time right now in the US and around the world. How are YOU doing?

Date: 2024-11-02 12:25 am (UTC)I have put in my Sudden Death, hope all enjoy. I am inspired by the really bouncing OFF the prompt's prompting that went to causing a prompt that guided me for THE new prompt so I am writing that as well, so no matter what, if you choose to read it, you'll see.

Date: 2024-11-02 12:43 am (UTC)I am doing well... although sad. My regular Monday-Wednesday and sometimes Sunday entertainment closed doors on Wednesday. The people behind the studio and creating will be doing new things which I'll follow, but it still won't be the same. Seven years starting as their fan, growing to friends and then remote crew and family, it's gonna be awkward. (It was a production studio in LA called Perception Studio who worked in improv, TTRPG and puppet fabrication and puppeterring as well as a talk show on all things nerd).
But ya know things move on. LImited Run Games has a huge event next weekend, my weekend is open for whatever.

Date: 2024-11-02 01:00 am (UTC)For the comedy - we didn't stay long for that either due to running around. Pretty sure it was (looks at schedule):
Andrew Hilary, John Michael Bond, Andy Iwancio and Kevin Casey White.
Bands (looking at the venue schedule, so these aren't in order) - Hot Water Music, The Eradicator, Cobra Skulls, Streetlight Manifesto, The Dreaded Laramie, Rodeo Boys, Lightweight, Wolf-Face, The Iron Roses (saw them twice), 40 Reps, Bad Cop/Bad Cop (saw them twice), Walter Etc. Reconciler, Bouncing Souls, Joyce Manor, Superchunk, Cloud Nothings, DFMK (technically we didn't see them, we heard them since it was at capacity), Mean Jeans (saw them twice), Billy Liar, Jen Pop, Danny Attack, Tiny Stills (saw them twice), Matt Pless, Teenage Halloween (Black Sabbath cover set), Tim Holehouse (once doing a Tom Wait cover set, with Mikey Erg on drums, once as himself. I then went to see him again a couple nights ago when he came through Tampa. Love that guy), Matt and Kim, Endless Mike and the Beagle Club (twice, once doing a Pixies cover set and once as themselves. They were actually staying with one of our friends), Whiskey and Co, Apes of the State, Tim Barry, and Brendan Kelly. (looks like that was all of the bands that we saw *at least* half a set from. There were others that we caught bits and pieces of)

Date: 2024-11-02 01:19 am (UTC)I've worked with and/or consider 9 of the wrestlers friends from the card... especially CPA and EFFY in the friends part... never got to actually with EFFY productionwise but have worked with CPA.

Matt and Kim in 2024 is a wild vibe, since they're a different band now. Still Matt and Kim, but performing under that name means that sound (I assume).
Man sounds like good good times.

Date: 2024-11-02 01:47 am (UTC)I haven't seen them since around 2011/12 or so. I wasn't sure what this was going to be. The sound quality isn't good in this video but it's the last song (Daylight of course) that will give you a taste of what that show was like. Balloons, confetti, anatomically correct inflatable Matt and Kim dolls and giant beach balls with plenty of crowd surfing and people just having an amazing - and positive - time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vW1TUSQR8s
Afterward people in the FEST Friends FB group are STILL raving about how surprised, and delighted, they were. (Matt and Kim played one of the early FESTs, but haven't been around on the scene for well over a decade so there's a whole generation of FESTers who had no idea what they were in for...

Date: 2024-11-02 12:37 am (UTC)Now to try and figure out how to use the current prompt, which sounds interesting, but actually really sucks so far. *sigh* .. What's up with you? LOL

Date: 2024-11-02 01:49 am (UTC)Trying to figure out if I'll be able to do early voting tomorrow. Hopefully because otherwise it's Tuesday - with another storm out there in the Gulf with a 70% chance of developing.

Date: 2024-11-02 02:55 pm (UTC)I'm super nervous about Tuesday. Or Tuesday night. Or whenever we get results and whatever is going to happen after we do 😬 We're going to vote on Tuesday because David can take paid time off for election day. The early voting lines here have been insane, so hoping everyone else got it out of the way and we can just cruise in and cast our vote.
Otherwise, I too am tired and a bit stressed. I realized the other day that we have no free weekend days till after Christmas, apart from tomorrow. So hoping to have one last relaxing day before the chaos that's coming!

Date: 2024-11-02 08:44 pm (UTC)Where I live, voting early counts as an absentee ballot and they don't count absentee ballots unless things are close. :P I'm fairly depressed anyway, because it's doubtful my vote will make any difference in my state. I will, of course, still vote.
