Also of note, I've noticed an influx of Garys on social media and on my television. Especially on commercials. The name seems to have taken off back into popular usage after being in obscurity for most of my life.

I am taking credit for this. I assume that all mentions of "Gary" are characters based on me. Even if it's someone you know in Real Life, I think it's completely reasonable to assume that they were named after me. Unless they were born first. In which case they are time travelers who were named after me.

Ultimately though, these other Garys are poor substitutes. Accept only the original, and the best. The me.

I was going to reply to yesterdays post but didn't get time, so I'm going to put my two cents here:

I'm probably one of those people who dislike the lack of connection now on social media whilst also never posting personal posts. I'm incredibly aware of the fact that this is one of the reasons it's harder for me to form connections. But I suppose, for me, that's kind of the point.

I don't want to have to put the personal raw reality of my life on a stage for anyone to see just to be able to make friends. I don't like putting personal stuff in public posts.

A few years ago, it wasn't so much of a requirement. There was a lot more direct/ private messaging/ private comment threads where we could get to know each other better. I used to always be having private conversations with people. But I feel like I rarely have one to one conversations anymore online.

Also time zones are very hard, expecially when daylight savings starts like a week different to here and there can be three different gaps between time zones in the span of three weeks. I tend to try to post by a couple hours past the deadline time here, which should always be at least a couple hours before the actual deadline whatever is happening with time changes.
