When I looked at this mini season, I thought there was a chance we could have someone hitting 100 Weeks, but I thought it might be a long shot.
For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, the 100 Weeks Club is the honor of having survived 100 Weeks of Idol. Given that we've been going since 2006, you would think those numbers would be pretty high - but anyone who has been around for long enough can tell you, it's tough enough to survive any given week - much less do that 100 times!
With this newest inclusion - we have *38 contestants* who have accomplished this goal.
For those keeping score - Ro has a record, by a single week, over the late agirlnamedluna, at 160.
It's something to shoot for! There are actually two people currently in the running who are breathing down the neck of that goal.
The reason I was surprised is that I still think of this writer as being "New School Idol", and the fact that a new school contestant would already be entering the pantheon was strange to me.
Every generation of Idol has their cheerleaders - the people who come in and really help define a season. She definitely did that from her very first weeks in the game, and has remained a strong presence.
But it's true.
Welcome to the 100 Weeks club: (well, technically 105 as of this week)
