The poll closes tonight http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/926149.html and we will see who is going to emerge with an advantage for this last stage of the competition!

Looking at the slate of talent, it's kind of difficult to tell who *doesn't* have an advantage! So it's going to be who has the "outside" advantage!

Will we see familiar faces in the finale? Will people who have never been there before show up? Will it be a mishmash and over the next couple of weeks we will have no idea what's going on until it actually happens? (Betting on the last option)

Whatever the finale looks like - it should be exciting, and the road to get there will doubtlessly have a few surprises in store for us all!

How was YOUR weekend?

Curious to hear what the "advantage" will be. It truly requires a mental adjustment to accept "the game" aspect of this game. ;)

Weekend was good. How was yours?

Heh, I know you're always in game mode! And that is weird for ME. :)

I had a really great weekend! Saturday was a crafty day- opened up the house to friends, set out lots of crafting supplies, and tried to get caught up on some projects. Only a few people dropped by, but it was lovely and quiet and lowkey. Yesterday I did ALL the chores, and met with my writer's group to critique five different samples (that took a while) and also hung out with my sweetie. A+++ definitely would weekend again.

I'm kind of looking at my bin of projects and lamenting though... I'm still so far behind on so many things. Starting things is easy. Finishing them is hard.

Wicked busy weekend. Since I learned I had diabetes, I've been on a different diet ("eat more food") and doubled my already pretty aggressive exercise regimen. As I result, I've lost 25 pounds. Ridiculous.

I have about 35-40 more to go to his my target, but while I am pleased so far with the results, I wish there were larger blood sugar level changes. Alas.

The bigger goal is getting blood sugar under control, but I will be satisfied to continue to watch my body fat % drop.

How close are you to feeling that control is around the corner? My mother grapples with this. And unfortunately, the only thing that works for her (for various reasons having to do with her personality) is NutriSystem. She feels....denied? But....has currently re-committed and got her out-of-control numbers down within a week of starting the diet.

I'm cheering for you!

Its much better than it was before, but the reality is its going to mean I need to stay committed to a different life style forever. You can't shut off diabetes, but mine was caught early enough that a strict diet and exercise routine can get my blood sugar level under control and mitigate many of the long-term problems. I'm lucky in that I love many different types of food so I don't feel deprived.

I do miss pasta, though.

Rock star!! I was amazed at the change in my weight when I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I ended up only gaining 19 pounds my whole pregnancy (and I was pretty sure I'd already gained 17 or 18 by the time I was diagnosed!).

Did they put you on a special diet for gestational diabetes?

The diet for me hasn't been "extreme," but whoa is it lifestyle changing anyways!

They did! I got a carb allotment by meal/snack. 30g of carbs for breakfast and my 3 snacks, and 45g of carbs for lunch and for dinner.

No fruit in the morning (with GD, your blood sugar gets high overnight while you're fasting) because fructose kicks up blood sugar more than other carbs. And basic common sense stuff - stick with whole grains, healthy fats, etc. I wasn't supposed to get my carbs from french fries or chow mein.

That is fascinating. My fasting blood sugar is bizarre like that - sometimes I'll wake up and it will be low and sometimes I'll wake up and it will be... well, still low but not nearly as low. I'm trying to figure all of this craziness out.

The diet part I like though because, as I mentioned, I like all kinds of food and this gives me the chance to eat other stuff I love.

Man, I want lasagna though.

I want to encourage people to read [livejournal.com profile] rayaso's Home Game entry (http://rayaso.livejournal.com/19876.html) this week, which was hilarious.

My bike came back Sunday, after a week in the shop. Oh, how I missed it!

We also had a mini-frenzy of housecleaning on Sunday because teen son's friends were coming over to make a mini-film of a play they had to write for an English assignment. And then postponed to later this week, after a good hour of cleaning. Well hey, at least the laundry room is decent again. ;)
