Yes, the obvious ways to write about this are many, how to avoid them?

Peel away that first, on the surface layer and examine what made that first layer happened. :) The Cupertino Effect happens because spellcheck/autocorrect either jump the gun or don't understand what you're trying to say -- figuratively, of course.

You can write about "Damn you, autocorrect!" or you can write about someone jumping the gun and trying to correct a mistake that isn't a mistake at all. :)

And going a bit further, we also have "jumping to conclusions", and "not listening properly" and "miscommunication" not far from that.
