Speaking of "wall to wall excitement", I had some of my own! Not going to get into it right now. Going to literally wait to speak to an attorney first. (Oddly enough, I had made a decision earlier in the day where I thought "this will bring me some good karma... and it wasn't even 2 hours later when I received the news of the "exciting new developments". Note to self: Never make the moral decision! The universe doesn't respect it! ;) )

But it's going to be "fun"... emphasis on the quotation marks.

Well, there was the hospital stay and diabetes diagnosis. That was "fun".

Also the last week or so at work has been "fun" as many of my colleagues have decided to set their phasers to "stupid."

When I'm not working, I'm up on my shed roof, ripping out rotten plywood. Whatever hack did the roof last time failed to put any tar paper down - just tacked the shingles directly to the sheathing. Which probably explains why minor weather damage lead to having to replace half the damn roof. :(

I played a video game for about five minutes and then went to complain about it on Tumblr.

- Actually, I just noticed something interesting about the opening cinematic. A couple technicians were about to autopsy the body of the protagonist in the morgue - he wasn't really dead, obviously, he was just waiting for them to bear down on him with a scalpel before his eyes flew open and he sat up - but they hadn't even removed his clothes yet and appeared to be planning to saw right through his hoodie. (During the tutorial I saw this guy kill 750 New Yorkers and I think he even ate somebody back there, but God forbid I watch him do it naked.) And they were using the wrong scalpel for the job and were holding it upside down, at that. (Also, one of them said, dramatically, "Give me the eight inch blade" despite the fact that this refers to the length of the handle and tells you absolutely zilch.)

But I thought it was kind of touching because I know that this type of scalpel blade is often bought by artists who want to make stencils or some other type of craft. So the artist who designed that scene probably chose it because it was familiar. (Without being too concerned about the fact that in medicine this shape of blade is usually used for stab incisions, lancing something, a chest drain, that kind of thing. And surgeons are taught to hold this type of blade facing away from them for greater depth control.) In small doses, I like when you can see the artist through the work, even if the art becomes incorrect. It makes me feel somehow affectionate.

It's always interesting when you watch something you know how to do represented in a game/on TV/in a movie/what have you and you know they're doing it wrong. Sometimes it pulls me out of the moment, and sometimes I can see why they're doing it (adding extra drama for example), but it's always a touch jarring for a second as I'm paying a whole lot of attention to something that wasn't supposed to be focal.

I like that you recognized the blade being used instead and could relate that back to the artist, that's nifty.

My everyday life has done a halfway-complete turn within the past couple of weeks. It's going to be doing a complete turn in another couple of weeks when we gain another housemate...I am so NOT USED to having more than one person around. I am so NOT USED to having another adult female around who's not related to me. It's so bizarre it isn't funny.

OTOH it now gives me an excuse to actually make dinner :)

Oh "fun"! Yes, last night my "fun" was my husband discovering a strange petechial rash on my sons chin. Everything I read about it said call your Dr. now. We did and nearly ended up in the ER. If he'd had a high fever also, it would have been a late night. We have an appointment first thing this morning. He either injured the area somehow or it could be something very serious.

"Fun": reading technical standards from multiple governments for five hours at home when your body's aching something fierce from the run you took at the gym to blow off steam from your actual work day.

Hmmm the most 'fun' has been trying to get my 86yr. Old MIL to accept someone coming to help her twice a week. Doesn't sound like much, but you tell an 86yr old Italian woman that she can't handle her household!

Plus my husband has Multiple Scelorosis and I have the pleasure I'd dealing with whatever challenges that brings everyday,since nerves can decide to work/don't work in a NY minute. :)

"Fun" would be the upcoming office move. The same move that has already moved past four official dates (starting August 11) and several hazy possibilities and now may or may not be happening next Monday. At this point I refuse to pack anything else until I see a truck parked outside.

It's been a week after vacation ended and I am still not working properly. Grr. But college properly starts this week as well as an "experimental session" (it's when everyone has to be here and work together to get new data), so the "fun" begins.

So real fun is the news that Shakespeare's Globe is bringing a live play to Russia. Now I have only seen one play there and it was exceptionally good, and it does not mean all of their plays are the same, and it's Midsummer night's dream, too, which I have seen a couple times before and never quite liked, but it's something to look forward to.

actual fun: story-brainstorming emails with one of my friends (my story is fanfic, hers is original) that involve a lot of "well, i hadn't thought of that but now i'm going to have to use it" (from me) and "i have no idea who that is" (from her) and "dammit, research" (from me) and "there's no story here" (from her), and this morning i got an email in which she FIGURED IT OUT. which is very exciting.

(i'm also working on my lj idol entry, which is fun too but a little more solitary.)

"Fun" was work yesterday, where I had a really annoying misunderstanding with my team lead about the status of a project. It's fixed now, at least.

Actual fun was ravenshrinkery pretending to be Snorlax on a bridge for qween394's birthday party - we did a scavenger hunt for Pokemon and Pokemon badges on the trails of a nature center, and one of the trails had a small footbridge, so...:)
