but I'm still on NaNo's mailing list so received lots of emails making me feel guilty about not writing a novel.

There's nothing to cap off an experience like an automated "rub it in" system, is there? At the onset, it might seem encouraging, but by the end it's all, "All right, already! Shut up!"

After 7 years now of writing fanfic, I still remain a micro-ficcer, and have not yet reached the point where I imagine that I ever _could_ write a novel. People who have NaNo'd even once have my eternal admiration!
