The results of BOTH elimination polls will be added together, and the *3* with the lowest COMBINED TOTALS will be eliminated!

This is a comment from a rather cranky member of the peanut gallery. I won't say take it with a grain of salt but just understand that I'm very sensitive on this topic.

It's not something that many people give a second thought to but this time of year & the overwhelming focus on mothers in every area of life is very difficult for those of us who have lost their mothers.

I know the topic can always be interpreted every which way but still, it's one more hurt in a season of hurts... but in this case it's an unnecessary topic choice. Any topic could have taken its place.

I know I am particularly sensitive to it because my mother died the week of Mother's Day (seven years tomorrow) and every year I'm faced with "Don't forget Mom on Mother's Day" bs from the time Valentines Day hearts disappear & by now I've about had it.

This rant will probably be the basis for my 2nd topic submission but for future seasons, I'd like to ask that you please consider how these topics can be felt by the participants.

Hey - I have a similar aversion to Father's Day - but when stores and ads and media bombard people with these holidays, can either of us expect any rest?
