There is still a poll out there, http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/458636.html , to determine who will be moving on. People have been pointing out just how much fiction there is this week. Hopefully that's just how people decided to go with the topic rather than a general direction of the overall season/competition. I guess we will see how things shake out in the coming weeks.

I am currently reading the Bryson book "A Walk in the Woods" and just reached his visit to Centralia, Pennsylvania. More precisely, when he talks about the mine fire that started in 1962 and is still burning today.

If I didn't have to wait a season, I would make that a topic in and of itself, it's so interesting.

But since I have you here - what do *you* have burning, deep down inside? ;)

One of the reasons I am writing on an account that isn't my regular LJ account for Idol is exactly this-- I don't want people from my real life necessarily finding public entries where I talk about personal things and things that could affect their opinion of me, like my sexual orientation.

That's a great example of what I meant upthread ;) I don't know about you, but oh, say up until a couple of years ago I knew a lot of people online (both on LJ and elsewhere) who wouldn't have blinked twice about divulging nearly everything about themselves in a public entry. I think it was easier then because FB was a mere blip and there weren't as many security issues and whatnot as there are now. Also, as SO would say, "You can delete something, but it will always remain forever on a server somewhere..."

Yes, it used to be that you could assume your blog was relatively anonymous and no one you knew IRL would find it. But now that's changed a lot. I don't even think it's just Facebook doing that, it's also in part because the lines between Real Life friends and Internet friends are blurred a lot more.

And it also depends if you RL friends know you online too, I think. That's the reason why I don't mention LJ at all on FB -- except for SO and people I know from LJ IRL, nobody else in RL knows I'm here, as far as I know. My journal is also locked down, so if anyone thinks Kizzy = me, it would be only be through an Idol entry...
