It's Christmas Eve! Where has all the time gone?? Why do I still need to run out and go shopping? Why do all good people turn their head each day so satisfied I'm on my way? And why, if I know that it's happening, do I keep looking?

I know that I will be looking at the entries posted to The Free Topics thread: http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/404754.html - because if you still want to write, what better excuse than you don't *have* to do it!

***

What do you still have left to do today?

Merry Christmas! <3

I'm cleaning and cooking today, and baking! We're going to have lasagna for Christmas Eve dinner tonight, and I'm making biscotti to go along with it, and a chocolate mousse pie for tomorrow's visiting.

Aw, MAN. No fair. I'll bring you some virtual food at work.

I used to always be the guy who worked the "family days," as I was out of the family loop for about 10 years. That gets old. Hang in there, and Merry Christmas.

I already made and spiked the cranberry sauce and that was my only must do today. I guess the other must do is to take a shower and get dressed.

Merry Christmas Eve!!

All I have to do is mail the Christmas cards I finished last night- they'll get postmarked before Christmas, even if they don't get there until after! That and go to the grocery store for any munchies we might want tomorrow- cheese and crackers, and bread to go with the spinach artichoke dip I'm making. After that it's all low-key chilling out and watching lots of Doctor Who, chinese food for dinner, then back to the house for the NEW Doctor Who Christmas Special.

I've got all my baking done (ultimate chocolate cake, marble cake, and chocolate chocolate orange cookies) and today I'm in charge of cooking Christmas eve dinner for my immediate family. Might go to church for the first time in years just to hear my dad play piano. Off I go! Happy holidays everyone!

I need to clean up the kitchen, wrap 2 gifts for C's nephew, get a shower, eat lunch, and then wait for C's parents to come over to exchange some gifts. Then we're heading to C's cousin's house for Christmas eve.

C & I exchanged gifts just after midnight this morning. I got him a video game and some pj pants. He got me a beautiful bracelet. :D He done good.

Ok, gotta get going and get stuff done. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate. :)

About to eat chili, have already opened Christmas gifts and got some really nice stuff so I'm happy about that. Parents may have thrown out the cats' Christmas toys since the cats were playing around the wrapping paper with them.

Wearing nice fuzzy socks with reindeer on them.

I want to get all three free topics done, one each for Toni, Sarah and Blake. Just have to figure out who gets what topic and what exactly to say. If the fiancé gets responsive I might do that tonight and then do illustrations tomorrow in between other artsy obligations (story illustrations and comic pages to color).

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! :D

I took my kids down to Powell's this morning to sell some books that we've had sitting around forever. The proceeds went to a giant box of donuts for everyone to munch while Sandi is baking/making tamales/etc. I can't wait to see what's for dinner.

I wrote about this in my personal journal, but it's just too cool not to share. Long story short, our finances have been messy for the past few years due to Sandi's uprooting her family and moving to Oregon, my divorce, a couple very difficult business years, etc. We're pretty much close to broke all the time (join the club, right?). I made a post about wondering whether we were going to get through the holidays with enough heating oil to keep the house warm. The next day, I looked outside and there was AN OIL TRUCK just finishing a delivery. To us. One of my LJ friends had filled our oil tanks for us, just so they could help us out.

Mind-bogglingly awesome.

So, here's to the season of open hearts. Much love to all.

I'm running hyper here hoping I'll finally crash and burn. If I had the brains right now I'd be eloquent, but it's not in the cards. Back-to-back 12-hour shifts will do that to ya ;)

I'm really tempted not to go to SIL's tonight. However, there will be food. I am one never to turn down free food :D

Happy Christmas Eve everyone! I'm watching Rudolph on TV with my nephew right now. Just got done eating some of my sisters grandmas Christmas cookies that I only get once a year and listening to her dad talk about the coming of Jesus (he's been saying the end is coming soon since I was a child. Obama is the Antichrist, did you know that?)

I'm missing a special someone today. Though I'm sure he'd give my sisters dad Hell if he were here :P

I am in Mexico visiting my father-in-law. He's lived here for a few years now and this is the first time we've had the opportunity to come and visit and see his new home. This place is amazing, so gorgeous and peaceful. My husband and I haven't had a chance to just chill out and relax in a long time, so I think this will be just what we needed. AeroMexico did lose his bag though, so he has no clothes. Supposedly they are going to be bringing it here sometime today, so that is a very good thing. Hopefully everything is still inside of it when it gets here, haha.

I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL Christmas, or to be more inclusive, Merry Chrismahanukwanzafestivukah!!!

Had a bit of a pre-Christmas miracle yesterday. We were driving down from northern MN to the Mpls/St. Paul area for the holidays with the families deal, and within the first half hour, ended up in the ditch. (Slid juuuuuust off the edge as I was attempting to get stopped on the shoulder because our cat, who travels with us, was starting to puke -- we usually get pulled over and throw him out the door so he can puke outside, etc, lol. Narrow shoulder, snow-filled ditch, got just a tire's width or so too far over and the steep bank took over. No way we were going to drive ourselves out, etc.)

Anyway -- swear to god, not two minutes later, who pulls over coming the other way but two guys in a big pickup hauling a big tractor on a trailer. They unloaded their tractor, chained up our truck, and had us yanked out of the ditch in about 5 minutes. \o/

We knew they weren't going to be the type to take money (and they refused when we did offer), but as fortune would have it, we had just picked up our mail on the way out of the house, and friends had sent me a big tin of cookies. So, I ripped open the package, took out the card, and paid the nice guys with all sorts of holiday sweets and cookies, which they seemed quite happy to receive.

Faith in humanity is restored a bit at times like that -- they could easily have driven on by, but they stopped to help.

So, to the two guys in their sleigh of awesomeness (truck and tractor were both red, lol) -- you are our heroes! :)

Cool! I live in southern MN and have gone in the ditch a couple times, but there's a big difference between other years where there's maybe a couple inches of snow in the ditch and this year, where they're filled up to road level.

One thing I've noticed about Minnesota is that people seem pretty darn helpful, especially in the winter. I think the awareness that MN winters can be deadly if you're stranded on your own has something to do with it, so a lot of people have 4x4s, jumper cables, tow lines &c. and are willing to use them to help someone out. I know someone that spent a whole day last week pushing people's cars out of the snow.

It's Christmas Day here!! Whatever you all celebrate, I hope everyone has a safe, fun-and-food-filled weekend because they are the best kind of weekend; even when it's not Christmas :D

My family and I celebrated on Christmas Eve because my mother's working today, so today will probably be spent lounging around the house eating some more and marathoning the first two seasons of Fringe with my sister and brother-in-law, which they haven't seen, but I have. Then, maybe playing my new board game, Articulate, which is ridiculously hard, but so much fun. Can't wait!

Everything that has been delivered has been wrapped. We have enough food and drink to make a small army fat and sleepy. The house looks like it has been assailed by a particularly aggressive cadre of Glam Rock elves. The cats are being sweet, there is snow on the ground, we have guests and I am really excited to see how my Mum reacts to her big, surprise gift.

I think this will be a nice Christmas and I hope you all have one too!

The airing of greivences went exceptionally well yesterday, though nobody has yet pinned the head of the household in the feats of strength, so officially its still Festivus here.

To them that celebrates it, Merry Christmas. To them that doesn't, hope you have an awesome Saturday.
