It's a special "Black Friday" edition of the Green Room. Nice and early for those people waiting for the sales to start, or people who haven't gone to bed yet. Or, you know those people who live "elsewhere".

I've often wondered about this "elsewhere" place. Is it nice? ;)

***

Just to be serious for a moment. (Don't worry, it won't last)

There is one thing that want to say on the subject of "thanks giving".

Thank you to everyone who has come out over the years for Idol. I've heard people tell me what it has come to mean to them, and how much they get it out of it.

I just want to be clear - what *I* get out of it is knowing that you feel that way. It's what has kept this little idea going over the seasons, over the years.

I hope Idol can do for you what all of you do for me.

(/end seriousness)

So, um, yeah - what sort of deals are you looking for today? Any good sales? I do know that Record Store Day apparently also is today, so get out there and support your independent record stores! Also a lot of locally run businesses are offering specials over the weekend. If you don't want to support the "Big Guys" it's always the right time to support local artists!

(Man, I should be working on commission here! :P)

***

Closer to what's going on here though is that the deadline for the next Topic is Saturday. Which is coming up faster than you might think it is - http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/391241.html

So what is going on in your life over this (for some) extended weekend?

Working tomorrow, for me :(

But wow, early Green Room! That's kind of exciting!

My long weekend is looking to be more and more of an ideal. But as a freebie, I got a night this weekend at a local high-end hotel.

Aw, man, if I hadn't gone to get that last piece of pie I could have been first twice in the same day! :)

Thank YOU, Gary!

I finished my turkey day meal with my fiancee. :) Except we had a Cornish Game Hen, not a turkey. It was goooood...

Tomorrow, I have utterly no idea what I am doing. It is quite possible that I may begin job-hunting again, unless I am still too sick to pull that one off. Hrm.

Early Green Room is WAY Early!

I'm not going out shopping, because I'm not that insane. I am, though, putting up the Christmas tree/decorations and nomming my way through all my Thanksgiving dessert leftovers.

Come to think of it, I should probably add the whole "write my entry" thing to my list of stuff to do, right?

Ha-HA! No Black Friday for me!

Seriously, it's so nice not to pass by stores and find them full unto bursting with ravenous consumers.

I hope to spen the next few hours sleeping, then perhaps I will be able to get some writing done for a pet project. Who knows?

We should be thanking you, Gary.

Well, I should be, anyway.

I got nothing but good right now.

Yawn ... I'm still awake- working on my "Elephant" entry. Got a warm kitty next to me and a snoring husband upstairs, and leftovers in the fridge. Life is awesomely good indeed.

I'm still up, getting caught up on The Biggest Loser, heh. Also nibbling on a bit of leftovers, because it had been over 6 hours since dinner. *burp*

I'm very thankful for my dishwasher, LOL.

I'm not looking for any sales tomorrow, just some sleep and time to work on writing my topic. I've got an idea, but it's still percolating.

Huge thanks to you, Gary, for all you do!

I'm still up because I'm not doing Black Friday! I'll shop the internet deals and maybe meet up with my crazy mother and sister (avid fans of 4 AM shopping) for lunch and a movie tomorrow, but beyond that my plans are to clean my apartment, watch DVDs, and enjoy my Thanksgiving leftover haul.

Oh, and maybe get some inspiration for my boyfriend's Christmas present. Why are men so hard to shop for??

I'm going to be sleeping in a bit, then heading to work by 11. Quite grateful to be avoiding most of the Black Friday craze, other than the traffic (one of the major shopping districts lies between me and work, and avoiding it would add a good 20-30 minutes to my drive.)

We had an awesome Thanksgiving here. A truck driver friend ended up laid over in town here for the day, so I picked him up from the truck stop and he helped me with all the chopping of ingredients for Zuppa Toscana! I also made a caramel Brie and dried fruit dip to go with thin apple slices and crackers for an appetizer, italian seasoned french bread to go with the soup, and crust-less pumpkin spice pudding pie for dessert! Delicious, and I have left overs enough for two meals!

My big Thing to be Thankful For (TM) is having feeling back in the first two fingers of my right hand! I have three badly bulging discs in my neck that are pinching off nerves to my right arm, and causing stabbing shooting pain along with numbness, tingling, and weakness in the arm, hand and fingers. Thanks to some amazing friends who have been helping me, I've been able to get some chiropractic care and physical therapy, and I've gone from needing surgery to a therapy plan and a re-evaluation scheduled for 20 weeks out!!!! I'm thrilled about this! I don't want surgery, and with no insurance, therapy is too expensive as it is. I can't afford surgery + hospital stay + at least a month off work to heal! Very Thankful here!!

As soon as I read LJ and FB I am going to bed. Was a wonderful day though.

Shopping may not happen for a good reason. Mom in law is visiting. YAY!

Yay, on page one.

Turkey day number three tomorrow. WOOT!

And Gary, you all sappy? Awww, as I mark the calander. Hummm! Yes, happy about you thinking up idol. you are a cool dude. That is for today at least. Lol!

I'm out in the chaos. First year and it'll be my last. My mom and sister are big about Black Friday. Me? Not so much.

I think it's ridiculous. Completely ridiculous. I could go on a rant about crazy consumerism taking over the holidays, but I'm just cynical because I'm stuck out here...

I think I live elsewhere and it is cold. Very cold and a bit snowy. The weather people say that should go away for a bit though.

I'll be driving tomorrow, waving at all those poor souls trying to scoop up big deals at the malls as we fly on by. I think the extent of our shopping is a stop at Starbucks followed a few hours later by the inevitable "We're out of milk, can you run into town right quick, puddin'?" grocery run. Yee-haw.

Although, Amazon... Hmm...

I live Elsewhere. It's pretty nice. It's pretty and nice.

We don't get sales on Black Friday though.

But we have other stuff. Hobbits. Kiwis. It's kinda cool.

I am up, not for black friday but because I am insane and this is my normal nocturnal awake time. Pretty much my black friday is going to consist of me eating very yummy leftovers and pie for breakfast(pumpkin pie of course).

I am up baking a second ham. I am taking it to work with me for all my poor co-workers that are at this moment serving the crazy horde.

I'll be getting a couple hours of sleep before going in at 9.

Yay early GR!!!

I'll be at work in approximately an hour. Today will be nice and quiet and peaceful because people will be doing the other kind of retail :D

I worked too many Black Fridays in my youth to ever shop during one. Wouldn't be surprised if I still have a bit of lingering PTSD because of them.

I need to call and see if there are still tickets available for a children's musical on Sunday, and then call and grovel and apologize to my aunt for not getting that done earlier. I want to take my cousin to see When the Robbers Came to Cardamom Town!

Tomorrow the cats and I go to spend five hours in a hardware store so ordinary people can see how feckin awesome cats are. :D (It's Cats' Day this weekend. Sort of like Fathers' Day but infinitely more betterer since my dad sucks and my kitties are awesomecakes.)

Today I have to try to get comic pages done (hell-o procrastination!) and write at least some 3000 words for my NaNo and... Well, at least I got the cooking out of the way yesterday so I don't need to worry about that.

Good morning! I'm currently sitting on the floor of my local Best Buy, waiting to ring out my new HDTV. Next, I sleep for a few hours and then work a 12-hour shift at my retail job. Ahhhh...

The more I read about it, the happier I am to live somewhere where this "Black Friday" does not exist. But then I hate crowds and shopping in crowds so I likely wouldn't go anyway :)

Just sitting around waiting for December :D

Nothing much. Reading the play I am going to and contemplating finishing a translation early for a change.

Yes, we don't get Black Fridays in Russia or long weekends so late in November :-). But we get 10 days off straight at the beginning of the year (New Year through orthodox Christmas on the 7th through 9th or 10th regularly). Which is a new and stupid thing most would have preferred to have at the beginning of May when it's at least warm.
