It's definitely not the vote that was planned.  In fact, it runs completely contrary to the "big picture" of this mini season of getting back to basics.... although, and I'm literally realizing it as I write this. Back in the first 3 seasons, when people missed the deadline they competed to see who was eliminated and everyone else played for special prizes, like Immunity!  So it's really a "back to basics" idea that I happened to stumble on accidentally.  :) 

I hate the idea of shifting something in midstream, but honestly I think this has the potential to make things a little more interesting in the coming weeks. Like the Black Mark hanging out! So it's two old school twists right in a row! (Is this a prelude to the next mini season??? *cue the suspenseful music* ) 

With the byes about to expire, I know people have been hanging on to them strategically to get to the next step. I guess the "strategic" question now is do you use them and lose out on a potential opportunity to gain an advantage but guarantee your safety, or do you roll the dice and keep them in your pocket to attempt to gain another advantage??

I should be in bed but I’m lagging… I fell asleep on the couch a few hours ago so I worry sleeping may be hard now. Tomorrow ends my “very busy week” and life will just be my normal level of busy next week. Well, sort of. I have to be up super early on Thursday, the day after working my exhausting day at the school, and get to an appointment in the suburbs on the other side of the city that takes forever to get there. Not looking forward to that. I don’t know why they only schedule appointments that early 😭

I’m doing okay. Working a little overtime tonight (I don’t get much OT as a general rule) but reports run at midnight tonight, and the 5th is the day that All Things Must Be Entered into the Computer, so I get a lot of last minute data entry to do! Whee.

Still not happy about the surprise immunity thing.

Sometimes people aren't hanging onto byes for strategic reasons. Sometimes life gets too busy, or the prompt isn't bringing up any worthwhile ideas. That's what byes are good for! That's also why people sometimes run out of byes.

My first one actually got used on a week where I did write something but I made a timezone mistake. I almost used my next one this week because of how little time I'd had but managed to write it in an hour before the deadline.

I have one left and figured I'd use it if I need it in a write off basically because 2 days won't be enough time for me to write an entry given everything going on right now* (*unless I didn't sleep lol which with this injury recovery not a great idea) 😵‍💫 generally I prefer to not bye at all for the duration I last here (an ocd thing tbh) and I'd forgotten they even expired til I read this lol.

I like having byes in reserve, either for when the prompt just does nothing for me, or something life-eating comes up. So, I do tend to hoard them. But a week off is nice, once we get to whether it's use-it-or-lose-it!

Sorry about the injury, though. Is it keeping you awake, or are you just talking about staying up way late to get an entry done if it comes to that?

What timezone are you in? I'm in the Pacific zone, so I always have to be careful about those East Coast deadlines!

Yesss, it's always handy to just have them there and then if an emergency happens we don't have to worry. Though tbh I am really stubborn and one time I wrote my entry between throwing up when I had flu+food poisoning! Lol I was like "not letting this make me bye!"

Thank you! 💙 sometimes it's painful at night and it's a very long drawn out thing.
I did mean I'd end up stay awake really late / getting overtired and not sleeping if I ended up having to do it in 1 or 2 days!
It tends to take me at least 2 days to settle on an idea when we have 4 days lol, but that aside between stuff I have to get done and the physiotherapy (I'm learning to climb stairs from scratch and it's ridiculously tiring!🥱) and the freelance writing I do for a horror site, it would definitely be 11th hour. My last 2 entries both ended up being posted super late too, one was due to connectivity issues I was having, but last week I went back and forth so much on the prompt I almost byed.

My timezone is cet+2 so I'm like 6 hrs ahead of Gary's timezone!
