Welcome to our new home. At least for now. :)

I'm sorry for the disruption.

The new entry link is https://therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/1111477.html

For those not familiar with the ownership of Livejournal. I know that I had missed several of these developments over the years:

2007 - Six Apart was purchased by SUP at the end of 2007, Russian-based media company SUP bought it from Six Apart. The news was followed by a wave of outrage. SUP’s CEO was Alexander Mamut, a Russian banker with alleged ties to the Kremlin.    (https://thehistoryoftheweb.com/postscript/whatever-happened-livejournal/)

2013 - SUP was purchased by, and merged with Rambler Media Group - https://cybpoint.ru/en/windows-7/rambler-internet-holding-oficialnyi-ooo-rih-obedinenie-s-sup-media-vladimira.html

2020 - Rambler Bank was purchased by Sber, the state-controlled bank https://www.ewdn.com/2020/10/29/sber-completes-full-acquisition-of-online-media-and-entertainment-group-rambler/

March of 2022 - CEO of Sber was added to the sanctions list https://www.businessinsider.com/russian-oligarch-herman-gref-sberbank-added-us-sanctions-list-2022-3   "The US Department of the Treasury has added a key Russian financial sector official and close confidant to Vladimir Putin to its list of sanctioned individuals."

I’m personally glad you did this, Gary!
Busy days at work…overtime all the time…We are short staffed due to sickness. Not COVID. Stomach flu bug thing is going around. 🤮.
My HoneyB has something like that w off and on temperatures and crouping. She goes to her pediatrician later today.

Oh no! I hope HoneyB feels better! My littlest one brought home a stomach bug from daycare last month and gave it to the rest of us, and ooof, that hit us all harder than when we had Covid. I hope you stay well, and the rest of your family too!

Thanks! Yes that stomach bug thing is happening big time in our area now as well. I hear it’s nasty. My son in law took HoneyB to the doc: pneumonia. Now some antibiotics for ten days. My daughter had pneumonia two times as a kid: age 2 and again in 2nd grade. The age 2 one was brutal. Week in a hospital. 2nd grade was mild.

Thanks for posting all those links, Gary! I knew some of that, but not all of that.

Things are okay over here. Forever tired, but I have one more quieter week of work that I plan to take advantage of before it gets super busy again for the next two months. I'm still fiddling with my Idol entry. I can't decide if I like it, but then I also don't have a better idea. The struggle is real with this one!

I'm okay. Busy, but OK. For those not in the know, my husband and I bought a 116-year-old farmhouse earlier this year. We closed on March 14th and are moving in this weekend (April 16th/17th; movers will bring over all the furniture and such on the 18th). We had a long period between when we had to be out of our apartment and when we closed on the house because the house itself needed a lot of TLC prior to move-in — mostly, painting and treating floors.

We're trying to get the last of the renovations done before we move in this weekend, so Saturday/Sunday was spent refinishing the kitchen floor: sanding down to bare wood, hand-sanding spots we missed, leveling the floor as best we could, and then staining (the boards were pretty weathered, so this was a necessary step). We're applying polyurethane tonight, after verifying that the stain has set and looks nice (as of last night it looked good, but hadn't fully dried yet, so, you know). After this is done, it'll be painting and replacing broken tile in the downstairs bathroom, and then we'll be able to move in.

Most of my friends think I'm nuts for buying the house that we did, but once we have everything fixed that we want to fix, we'll have added $150k in equity and it'll look great. Just gotta get there. As of now, we're aiming to have the downstairs completely finished and set by July so we can hold a housewarming party if COVID numbers hold (fingers crossed!).

I've always wanted to buy a 100+ year old house and fix it up (I'm a home-improvement-reality-show addict)! Congrats on your new home and being FINALLY moved in! May you never have to move again! ;)

congratulations on the house. Older houses are so spacious and open compared to houses now. Hopefully yours has a bathroom, my grandmother bought an old farmhouse that was built in the early 1900's with an outhouse down the hill. Luckily, my granddad was a master carpenter and master plumber.

So relieved that Idol is back on DW, and not LJ anymore.

I just returned from a trip to visit my parents in Denver. It was short and pretty busy, and that’s why our entries were very early. We had just one day of downtime, and I spent it regrouting the shower yesterday.

Business as usual today. P.S. this is my non idol journal.

Thanks for the history lesson. I knew about the last two entries, but didn't know about the two earlier ones.

I knew about the earlier ones but I had no idea at the time about their ties. It doesn't surprise me.

Back before the gov't lockdown I belonged to a number of Russian layout/digital art communities. OMG, the talent! I befriended an English speaking admin of one who told me that they all knew their time on LJ was probably going to be cut short so everybody was posting everything. The minute the gov't hammered them down, everyone disappeared. SUP then took a bunch of layouts from various communities and made them part of the "choose your layout". They took a bunch from the admin I'd been friendly with. I know this because I automatically recognized them.

Can you remind me what your Livejournal username was? My brain isn’t braining today and I want to update my spreadsheet with the new username. Thanks!

I am happy that you moved to dreamwidth. Not too much of a hassle to create a profile, at least I could keep my same account name. =^..^=

slept in today since day off and very busy and stressful last couple of days at work. Then participated in the Trash Bags and Tail wags Earth Month Cleanup. We picked up lots of discarded masks and disposable gloves as well as plastic bags, beverage bottles and hey, anyone need a Nused Crack pipe?

Now, updating our progress on the company Workplace (facebook for companies) and with Baltimore county who also is having a county wide clean up.

after wards, my husband and I are planting our dear kitty's cremains in the memorial garden. Biodegradeable container with flower seeds so should be a lovely addition when they bloom. (that is our sweet boy, Lisban, in the profile pic)
