I hope the move isn't permanent. But I can't see a future there, to the point that I'm not only moving operations mid-season, I'm moving them a day before a deadline.

If you are a current contestant - Only the venue has changed. You can continue to participate with your Livejournal account over here. Or use a Dreamwith/Open ID one. Either way. I only ask that if you change names, please let me know so I can keep track of it!

If you weren't following Idol over there - and I know there were people who weren't. I guess you are in for an unexpected treat!

Will there be people dropping because they don't want to be at Dreamwidth? I'm sure there will be. They signed up on Livejournal for 3 Strikes with the idea that it would take place over there. But sometimes the world only gives us bad choices and we have to make the best of them.

Because of the chaos, I'm extending the deadline for this week by another week. (Noon ET on April 16th). Again, I wish I didn't feel I needed to do that. But it seems like the fair thing to do considering how much of a disruption this is to a regular mini season.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have suffered a heavy loss this past week, two dearest friends suddenly dying in an accident, and have felt not able to write ever since. Knowing that Idol will go on here will give me the energy to woman up and continue!

I confess, it was a little surprising to see this the night before the deadline, and I already submitted this morning. I hadn't signed up for DW because I really didn't want to have to get another account, but I wasn't sure if I could subscribe to posts without one, and getting email notifications is how I know when the polls and prompts go up, since I don't actually read friends feeds any more.

I understand and respect the decision, and intend to keep playing because this has been a great source to get me to write an ongoing story I've been getting invested in writing. I don't know if I'll continue to post on LJ or here or just post to my personal blog now instead, since I've been crossposting my entries there anyway. But for now, at least I was able to register under the same username here so you know who I am.

Considering how crazy my work has been and now this, especially when people know that I'm NOT a fan of DW, I'm sure there is at least one person asking "Is this the end of Idol?"

The only honest answer is "I have no idea."

In fairness though, other than brief periods where I've made solid "this is going to happen" commitments, I've NEVER completely been sure if any given season would be the last one. So let's just enjoy what we have at the moment, and let the future sort itself out.

I don't love Dreamwidth, but at the same time it's a little bit nostalgic. Reminds me of LJ back in the day.

Since I do already have an account I set up for Idol, I'll probably move my posts over here as it's a little easier to stay within the same eco system. My username is WILDLY different (for those that don't know, I'm Viagra on LJ) but I think my theme is consistent enough that I'm not too worried about people not knowing it's me. :)

I've been absent as of late because I haven't been here all that much. I did see Gary's post on FB about this. I'd been wondering about it myself -- I stopped short of deleting my LJ account when this mess started -- and thought, had I signed up for this season, I probably would've been one of those encouraging him to move here for the time being.

I don't like foretelling the future. Take every day as it unfolds, and that includes Idol <3

Okay, I’ve created a DW account. Same username. I’ve added a few folks here, will add more, or feel free to subscribe or whatever to my feed.

I clicked the yellow arrow icon on this page, so hopefully I’ll get email notifications when new posts go up. I’m still keeping my LJ account, but will post future Idol entries here as well (copy & paste is awesome).

Fewer icons here, but whittling down to the basics and finding a few new ones was fun.

This was wonderful news! I preferred LJ over DW, but under the current situation, that was irrelevant and selfish. I'm glad you did this. I was so hopeful after the collapse of the Soviet Union 30 years ago, but that hope ended a long time ago. The Russian people have always deserved better. The Ukrainians deserved none of this, and I hope they triumph in the end.

I have had my DW account set up for cross-posting, but I was wondering if there is any way to move my pre-DW stories on LJ over to DW? Also, due to a computer malfunction a few years ago, I lost my older stories. Is there any way to download them to Word other than on an entry by copy and paste method? Thanks.

If you go here, you should be able to import your LJ into DW. I don't think it will import anything you crossposted but it should get everything on your LJ that's not on DW. It's taking a little bit of time at the moment to go through, but it should work!

beautyofgrey). Now you might be hastening along my decision on whether to rename my DW account!

So...since we have another week to write, what if we want to revise our entry or resubmit a new one, do we just let you know where the new one lies? (I say this with a false sense of optimism, knowing full well that the same work woes that restricted my time this week will still be there next week.)
