Green Room - Week 9 - Day 8

We had a few more Golden Tickets come into the game last night, for a total of 9. I'm currently trying to resolve a problem someone was having ordering, so there is a chance of a couple more coming in this morning. Just a heads up that the number might change.

The other important number, is that as of right now, our Purse stands at $403.59! Keep in mind that up to $500 is going to be matched. So we are getting closer to that goal. If we do end up getting it up to $500, that means our Final Four will be walking out of here with $125 each! That's pretty exciting. At least to me.

Another thing that is exciting, to me, and maybe to the rest of you as well - tonight is when the Gatekeepers are going to finish turning in their votes. Which always makes me nervous. Keep in mind that at any given Gatekeeper round, the majority (if not all) of the people involved are former Idolers and in Idol tradition, they make me sweat until the last minute to see if they are actually going to be on time or not! :D

In their voting, so far (combined with the last few weeks) I think I see a potential Top 20, it's the first time when I can truly say that I've been in a place where I can start playing out a projected "end game"... BUT the great thing is, Second Chance has the potential to completely blow that up!

I am reading! Reading, reading, reading.

And I am excited and delighted to see players buying Golden Tickets--wasn't that a prompt a few seasons ago?--and the "pot" growing.

It's all making for a fantastic season. (Doffing imaginary hat to Gary.)

I'm super behind on my reading :| But in news I know you all care about, I finally finished Christmas shopping yesterday. Except for a couple dog bones for my sister's dog.

And I watched Survivor! Christian and Gabby were my faves, so still bummed they didn't make it to the finale but I'm happy with how it ended. There really wasn't anyone from the jury on who I didn't like this season. And I liked that everyone was playing hard for the most part.

I haven't read anything about Edge of Extinction and from the teaser I can't tell how it's different from Exile Island, so reserving judgment till I know more. And although I think it's better when it's either half or all returnees rather than four, three of the four are some of my favorite players so it works out for me. I'm excited!

I wish I didn't know as much as I do about Edge of Extinction. ;)

It's closer to Redemption Island than Exile Island.

Basically the premise is - once you are voted out of the game, you have a choice. You can leave and go to Ponderosa OR you go to "Extinction Island" where you will be living pretty much just as you did on the island. Everyone voted out has the chance to go there - and at the final 5 (I believe. I've heard 4 but I really hope not now that the final 4 is a fire making challenge), there is a big challenge and the winner comes back into the game.

It's basically production's way of making sure all of their favorites (especially Joe) are around for the entire season. (it's filmed and will be airing in the regular episodes. Not sure how much. But some of it will at least)

Allowing the person to come back into the game that late basically allows someone to skip the entire actual game, win one challenge and be in the finals.

Possibly related: they fired their long time casting director after this season was filmed.

Ohhhh. Huh. I'm not sure how I feel about this. Like a lot of the more talent-based reality shows I watch (like Top Chef) basically do this now (sort of like Second Chance Idol!), but it's a little different when it's talent-based, since even the most talented person can have a bad week. But Survivor is a strategy game. And can you really outwit someone or outlast them if you got voted out??

I guess we can hope the jury feels the same (although if the whole jury goes to Extinction Island, maybe they won't think that).

Obviously I'll be watching but yeahhhhh ... not really feeling the love for this idea so far.

(Thanks for the info though! I would have been wondering about it until February/March or whenever it starts!)

Oh, I completely forgot until I read this! Apparently the whole cast is the jury.

I actually like the returnees. Which is rare for me.

For some reason, though it wasn't even that long ago, I'm having a hard time remembering much about David. But I love Kelley and Aubry and wanted them both to win their seasons. And Joe is cool, even if he is a production favorite :)

I liked David the first time I watched the season. The second time I thought he was absolutely fantastic. Even better than I'd remembered him. I'm more excited about seeing him than the others - because we've seen the others before. I like them (well, except Joe - I liked Joe back when he was Malcolm. :D)

I'm curious to see how tonight will go! It's been a great season and one can never tell about safety here. But no matter what, I've had fun.

I don't watch Survivor, but we JUST adopted a new kitten, Teddy, who was abandoned on the side of a road and neglected for months. Poor little guy. So we're surviving a new baby cat who thinks we're all out to get him, and he's surviving a scary new house with people that don't want to hurt him (he just doesn't know that yet!). He's lovely, though. It will take a few weeks for him to adjust. Hell, I've lived in our new place for seven months and I'M still adjusting, haha. ;)

He is adorable. Right now, he's hiding under the couch, but poking his head up here and there just to make sure we still love him. And we do. <3

Half of the Gatekeepers have their votes in. Which is about normal. :)

Right now I can say with absolute confidence that 3 contestants are completely safe.

2 additional contestants I'd say with a degree of confidence that are safe.

2 more after that I'd say they were most likely going to be safe.

19 are in danger.
