What a week huh?

I say that in the best and worst ways.

BEST because every single person in the poll this week beat out what had previously been the second most votes in the HISTORY OF LJ IDOL!!!! EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU!!!!

That's a major, major accomplishment. The votes were impressive, and so were the entries.

I've said this elsewhere, but I'll say it right here and now - for whatever it is worth I'm damn proud of all of you and I hope that you are proud of yourselves as well.

Sadly though there were some downturns to the week as well. But the biggest of those is now having to say goodbye to 4 remarkable people and talented writers. It is the way of a contest, but it just keeps getting more and more difficult as you see people who you have seen grow so much over the weeks fall by a few votes.

Now comes the point that a lot of people have been waiting for. . . the ten of you are going to vote. You will each send an email to clauderainsrm@gmail.com and cast ONE vote for THE SPIRIT OF LJ IDOL.

This is the most power you will ever have in this game to give to another person, and probably the nicest thing you can do for a fellow contestant.

I came up with this last year when I saw how hard everyone was working and thought "man, it would be nice if I could give out more than ONE award! Why can't more than one person walk away with something here?" So I set up "The Spirit of LJ Idol" and a nice icon was created. I put it to the contestants as "give this to the person who you think best represents what this contest is about". Not who you think is going to win, but who you, as people who have been in the trenches with them, MOST DESERVES that pat on the back for being an example of an LJ IDOL.

I thought they would pick one person - they surprised me and picked someone else entirely!!! (who ended up WINNING!)

Following the proud tradition of no one EVER lasting as my assistant for an entire season, we also say goodbye to onyxblue1 this week.

We had our ups, we had our downs but she was REALLY good at keeping on top of things and was an AMAZING help to this contest.

Her presence will be missed. I literally couldn't have done it without her.

With each goodbye though is a hello. Because we have a NEW assistant to kick around - and once again, one is pulled from the ranks of former contestants who need to be punished promoted.
