Second Chance Idol

All 8 Second Chance Idolers showed up this week.

I was wondering if that would happen or not. But they did. . .

Just in time for them ALL TO BE ELIMINATED.

That's right. None of them are in SCI anymore.

Why?

Because by showing up in the Final Week, when it was all on the line, by throwing that last hail mary - they earned a spot in the game.

Results - Second Chance Idol Week

The difference between the regular poll and a Second Chance one is that at least, at the end of it, I have some good news for *someone*. There is still bad, but at least I get to make a couple people happy.

Which is the sort of luxury that doesn't come around very often.

As Second Chance Idol heads to the conclusion, the stakes of continue to climb.

This week it was the Bottom 6 who have been eliminated. Unfortunately, for some of them this is goodbye to second time this season. For others, well, I will let them tell you, or not. But they are all familiar faces and old friends in the Idolverse. So I know we will continue to see most of them - and hope that the others will show up for the Home Game. (Which will be getting a dedicated of its own as soon as SCI is over)

Vote - Second Chance Idol - Week 5

It's getting down to the wire in Second Chance Idol.

But for all the pressure, there still is a bit of Softness around the edges.

Or at least that was the jumping off point for the week.

Where they went from there - well, that was up to them. But you knew it was going to be interesting!!

This week the ante is upped just a little bit more.

The Top 6 will have the opportunity to join the main competition and the Bottom Six will be eliminated.

Given the number of contestants left at this point, that's a pretty sizable group!

Especially with nannerz2cool, queen_pepita, purplehaze9 and zehlyah bowing out.

Results - Second Chance Idol Week 4

We have the usual round of good news/bad news.

The bad news is, of course, the eliminations. The good part of that is that although I said I would be getting rid of 5, since there was a 3 way tie, and Second Chance is coming to an end pretty soon anyway, I figured that I would give those three another shot and not make them break the tie.

Which still leaves us four of the people vying for a shot to get into the main competition. Some of them are familiar. Some you don't realize are familiar. (or probably should have become more familiar with if you didn't get the chance to read them. I'm hoping you will continue to be able to get that chance via the Home Game)

Thanks to beautyofgrey for the topic last season. It didn't get used then, but it came in handy this week!

It really is getting down to the wire, and unfortunately that does mean that some folks will not be continuing the journey with us.

The stakes continue to go up as the numbers go down.

Results - Second Chance Idol Week 3

Saturday afternoons around Idol have taken on a new meaning. For the main competition, it's when they need to make sure that their entries are in - but it's also when they will find out who will be joining them.

Because it's that good news/bad news Second Chance results.

As usual, I'm going to try to get the bad news out of the way first. Because it's always the worst part of the day.

Results - Second Chance Idol Week 2

It is that time again. Another week of Second Chance Idol has come to a close, and now it's time to announce who is moving forward, and who is leaving us.

This time around I announced that the bottom three would be leaving us. However, there is a currently a three way tie for that last spot. Due to circumstances, I am going to give a one-time show of mercy and *not* have a run off. Only two people will be leaving this week.

Unfortunately, both of them are well known and loved in the Idol community. When veterans are going home, it shows just how competitive SCI actually is!

Another week and another shot for the readers out there to check out these writers and get to know them better.

Another shot for the writers to have the chance to get "back" into the main competition!

Unfortunately, there were some folks who didn't make it to the starting line in time this week. Since there are no byes, that means we are saying goodbye to them right off the bat.

This week, the three entries with the highest vote totals will give the contestant the opportunity to be sent straight into the mouth of the dragon that is Season 7 of Idol!

Results - Second Chance Idol Week 1

The first round of Second Chance Idol brought out some amazing entries!

Being a competition though, there is some good news and some bad.

The bad being that we have to say goodbye to people.

Or in this particular case, say goodbye for a second time this season. Unfortunately, someone had to be first. But just coming out to take another shot at it, when so many other people sat on the sidelines, is a victory in and of itself.

The good news is that we are losing two other competitors, but in a better way. They have the opportunity to leave SCI and enter the main competition (as of Week 10).

(I say "opportunity" because they can say "no thanks", in which case it would go to the next highest total)

Vote - Second Chance Idol - Week 1

When one door closes, another opens. Or maybe it's a window. Sometimes it's specifically God opening them. Other times it's not so clear other than it happens.

This time - it's me. I opened the window, or maybe a vent through the chimney for people to slide down and leave presents under the tree.

Presents *for you*, the reader.

They even made nice personalized gift tags.

The best way to say "thank you" to them is to read what they are offering, and vote for your favorites - and of course make sure you comment to them! Comments are the handwritten "thank you" notes of the LJ world.

This is Second Chance Idol, another chance to get back where they "should" be - into the main competition.

Their topic this week was "Take Heart", and from what I've read, they certainly have more than enough heart to spare!

The two entries with the MOST votes will give the contestant the opportunity to re-enter the main competition. (People *do* have the option of a "pass", opting to stay on Second Chance Idol, for whatever reason. If that happens, then it goes to the next highest, and extra)

The two entries with the LOWEST vote totals = those contestants are eliminated from Second Chance Idol.

The poll closes Saturday Jan 15th at 1 PM EST. So if you haven't had the opportunity to meet some of these folks yet, or missed them the first time around, you have a second chance to correct that!

It's not just the contestants who are getting a second chance though. It's the topics! For one reason or another, they ended up not being used during a previous season! A good thing? A bad thing? It's just what happened, and they have been sitting there, waiting for another season, and another chance to be considered!

We're going to start the New Year off right!!!

What is it? It's another shot at getting it right.

Just like Idol, running alongside it for "a little while", but with one big difference - you can EARN chances to get back into the REAL game!
