It seems kind of silly to say, but I really am going to miss you guys over the summer. Even the ones on my FL, it won't be the same. Nothing is quite like Idol, even the things pretending to be!*G*

Ah well, it will give me another reason to look forward to Season 5!

It looks like it might rain. I hope it does rain because I don't know how much more I can take of this humidity. I'm trying not to run the AC 24/7, so right now...yeah, it's a bit hot in here.

I'm off today and tomorrow :) Unforuntately it's too hot to do what I normally do on my days off, so I don't know what I'm going to do today.

I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant combo (which comes with the hashbrown triangles & beverage) with orange juice.

She neglected to give me my OJ carton, which I didn't remember about until after I'd driven off, and I didn't have time to turn around and go back to get it AND get to work on time (which I was really trying to do since I've been off the last two weeks, yanno). So fine, no OJ for Ro.

THEN, I get to work and discover that my supposedly bacon, egg, and cheese croissant -- for which I paid extra to have them add the egg -- is, instead, a ham & cheese croissant. No bacon, no egg.

Don't get me wrong, I like ham just fine, but it wasn't what I ordered NOR what I paid for. *sigh*

At least at McDonald's, they always get my order right!

Good...uh, late morning everyone!

We braved the heat to go to the Reston Association building to get our pool passes. For some reason, the cost keeps going up when, indeed, we are still paying our $475/year just to live here (I would be less bitter if my husband were not on the parks and planning committee--at least next year he can try to convince them to freeze the pool pass increases for a while).

I'm totally not working today. Well, except for the part where I'm working a little. But just phone work. and Internet work. And taking care of a baby. OK so I'm working today (facepalm) but we ARE going to the pool this afternoon.

Hello all!

We have no a/c at home either - just a window unit in two of the rooms. Are we crazy to be thinking we'll use our economic stimulus payment to do some outdoor things - like fence the back yard, put up a play gym and plant some trees - instead of installing some central air? I just think we'll enjoy that so much more...I mean, we only live in the Deep South...who can't handle August in Georgia (we'll have to move into the library by then I imagine, lol)

Sooo...Less than 24 hours until Idol's final curtain and nary a post to the topic thread? I am waiting with bated breath! From a psychological perspective, it is such a fascinating topic anyway.

And did I hear tell of Season 5? Fabulous! Fall is looking better already!

See, I've always thought so! There are just so many layers that you can get into with the topic... and so many challenges, the biggest being how to write well about someone else winning without completely convincing everyone that you're right and giving it to them!*G*

So... in the quest for the 50,000 comment, let's have one last push.

During the last eight months, I know we have all been fairly focused on one thing: discovering who shall gain the coveted ICON of the next LJ IDOL. But, in the outside world, small things have been changing. We have been through fall, winter, spring.. and apparently into summer without batting an eye. [Of course, if you are on the underside of the world, things are reversed, but you get the idea]. There are wars still going on. Political debates.

BUT, perhaps the thing that is affecting us the most (after this IDOL quest):

Gas prices. Look, I brought a chart:

In September, 2007, gas was hovering around $2.75. Do y'all remember how **expensive** that was? It hit $4.22 today in DC.

How high is gas where you are now? How high is going to get? Have you changed your driving habits because of it?

When I drove to the transit station this morning, one gas station was at 3.84 and the one across the street was 3.89. I wonder if it will be higher when I get home tonight.

I haven't really changed my habits much but I don't drive much anyways....I take the bus downtown to work. I guess the one thing I have changed is I take the lightrail now to school on Saturday rather then drive.

Did anyone else read that McDonalds stopped serving sliced tomatoes on their sandwiches?! Samonella is the likely cause... Lucky us, because now I don't have to remember the "with cheese, no tomato" on John's Big 'N Nastys.

In other news, it's 90F here with lotsa humidity. I baked cookies at 3am this morning so that I wouldn't have to bake them when it was hot. (Oh, the luxury of staying up late whenever you don't have work!)

4 days, 16 hours, 5 minutes, and 39 seconds till we leave for the beach. I'm SOOO excited... but have SOOOO much to do before we leave!
