Results - Week 4 Sudden Death Write Off

There was a tie and four contestants were thrust into a Sudden Death Write Off, one more entry, one more round to break out of the pack.

It came one vote away from being a three way tie. Three votes from being a four way tie again.

If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know about how close things are this mini season, I'm not even sure I can articulate it more clearly.

But those votes DID show up, so two of them are moving forward, and unfortunately we are saying goodbye to two beloved veterans. One is the youngest contestant. The other isn't the oldest, but if it was that would at least be amusing. So let's pretend she is! :)

I'm really hoping that we will see more from both of them in the Home Game, and continuing to hang out and root for their favorites!

Goodbye to kizzy and yamyam_kat .   Thank you for coming out this mini season. I wish we got to hang out longer.

Aww what a bummer. I really enjoyed getting to read Kizzy’s pieces this season, and especially stories about Audrey. I REALLY liked Audrey. I hope you will have time for the home game.

As for yamyam-kat, this mini season was the first for her to get back into writing fiction and poetry. 8th grade was nothing but essay after essay, and I watched as her spirits dimmed from a necessary but non creative approach to ELA that year. The prompts you gave inspired her for the first time in months.

Monday, she starts high school at a performing arts conservatory, and one of the focus points beginning day 1 will be creative writing. We received the schedule this morning. So while I am profoundly sad to see her time this season come to an end, I am excited for the potential she is bringing to the table beginning next week.

I also really enjoyed the Audrey stories-- they're vibrant, and it makes me think you could work up a novel with that character.

Wait, hold the phone. yam-yam cat is JUST NOW getting into High School. If she was in my 10th grade English class (when I had one) I would be trying to get her into the best Creative Writing program I could find.

I was thinking of her as a peer, not a student.

Kizzy is a talent that I wouldn't be surprised if they won this contest at some point. Murielle is right this whole "mini" season is a no weak links, murderers row.

Right? When I found out she was 14, I was surprised too. Her piece this week was excellent and a favorite of mine.

I’m really sad to see both these writers go. I really enjoyed both of them this season, and yamyam’s piece this round was one of my favorites, I am surprised she’s only 14. Kizzy is someone who’s been around Idol forever and I was hoping to play alongside her more this season. This mini season is full of surprises.

I'm so sorry to see you both go! That's the only problem with LJ Idol--I'm always sorry to see ANYONE go. The writing this season has been phenomenal and NOBODY has written anything that wasn't excellent.

I knew yamyam_kat was the youngest competitor, but I had no idea you were only 14, which would mean you were 12 in the last competition. (Yes, I can math. ;) )
WOW! I'm wishing great things for your future and glad you will have the opportunity for more creative things in school. That's a lot more fun than essays. :)
