Green Room - Week 5 - Day 1
It's one of those days where I think if I start ranting about what I want to rant about that I just won't shut up until I start attacking people. :D
So I'll give you some links instead:
Here's the results from last night: https://therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/1008987.html
Here's the new topic: https://therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/1009402.html
Here's a reminder that the only thing that goes in the Topic thread is links to the topic: Hey, only post your links in the topic thread! Thanks!
Here's a reminder to feel free to start a Work Room thread in the comments section: Hey you can... you know. Do what I just said!
Here's a cookie... it's mine. I was just testing you. You're not getting my cookie!!!

Work Room
Re: Work Room
The way to really consider the term is "staying in character no matter what the situation". This can pertain to any job, any life situation. If you drop the persona you've presented you still try to do it in a convincing fashion, so the aura of that persona is still around you. It's something even say a teacher must do, when not in school but bump into a student. They still have to kayfabe a bit.
I hope this little paragraph helps and don't worry, it doesn't hurt my entry. I know more about kayfabe, breaking kayfabe and faking kayfabe cause when you work a work and work yourself into a shoot, brother.
Re: Work Room
This makes a lot of sense. And teachers being 'friends' with students on social media is odd to me (partly because I graduated from college before social media became such a huge deal, but partly because of the implied excessive familiarity, and yes breaking the status quo, or kayfabe).

Because so far, all I have is a hate-on for this prompt.
This could help some ideas get going. :)

Re: Work Room
Happier when they STILL are... but I mean I work in the business of wrestling, so always need more fans.

I don't know. Maybe it's something in the water. ;-)
Re: Work Room
Do you know Aubrey Sitterson? he's the only other person I know who is entrenched in the wrestling community and he just wrote a graphic novel on the history of WWE.
The seeing teachers in real life thing is funny. I loved when my son (who was 4 and in preschool) was like, "wait, they don't live HERE, at school?" lol!
Re: Work Room
That's hilarious! I love it!
Re: Work Room
This is a fascinating video:

Wrestlers having 'personas' is news to me. Not completely, of course, but the fact that they play them up to the extent Internet is suggesting, is.
Re: Work Room
-learning new sides of people you only new, for example, in a professional setting.
- actors breaking character for whatever reason (or staying in character despite sudden unexpected events).
- anything to do with the "status quo", or faith in something or someone, that either needs to be maintained or broken.
- situations requiring secret languages or "short speak" of any kind...
