Green Room - Week 27 - Day 7

If the GMT-converter that I used was correct, Nathalie's funeral is happening right now.

So if you could take a moment in your day to send some good thoughts out there for her family, this might be a good time to do so.

In Idol, we have a tribute to her going on, if you feel like contributing to it/writing about killing me! (one of her favorite past-times) http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/801771.html

Oh, and of course there is an actual topic due on MONDAY: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/800348.html
with a Work Room: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/800648.html

***

In the meantime though, we are using this opportunity to get into the community spirit with a Love/Thread Q&A.

I divided the group 14 contestants at a time.
The first two groups have already been posted: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/802311.html and http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/802740.html

Feel free to keep showing them love and/or asking them questions to get to know them better!

The third one is today, so jump on in!

I honestly feel that your writing is the pearl in the oyster here. I know you don't care for effulgent praise...so I won't. Do that. I feel lucky every week to read your entries.

Nonsense. I love effulgent praise. Just not good at taking it, is all.

Yup. (http://meradorm.tumblr.com) There's nothing there but crying over video games and kittens.

You are absolutely yourself in a way that I admire. There are some of your entries I find myself feeling as much as reading.

You've despaired of your "Russlish" in the past, but the 'flavor' of your entries is one of the things I enjoy most about them. I feel I can get down inside them into a unique and complete world, and no matter how different each week's entry is from the last, it's still true.

I also think you could publish a book of your not-quite-non-fiction stories, as the man you almost but never quite were.

It is very interesting to me to look at the other side of the living in not-quite-my-country issue.

Speaking of that, do you have subjects you are more comfortable thinking about/discussing in Russian that in English? I certainly do.

Also, if you do come to Moscow, I would love to meet you.

[identity profile] reckless-blues.livejournal.com 2014-11-08 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but I kind of hate talking in Russian because if you get anything wrong grammatically Russians will get pissed off and mock you like they're offended you even tried. I never get any practice! My grammar is terrible now. I don't even want to talk about my accent. (My plan is to somehow live in Moscow forever without ever opening my mouth. ...Not that there's much difference between that and the way I live now, I'm the strong, silent type.)

there's something about your writing that i just really, really like. it's kind of dark and strange and a little twisty - especially the (slightly fictionalized?) non-fiction entries - in a way that i really enjoy reading.

Your fiction is fabulous - weird, twisty, emotional, dark, creative. I look forward to it each and every week. I remember the story from... exhibit b, I think it was? Where you were talking to a cousin and telling a story about your own origins. It was so fantastically you, and I think of it still.

I love how absolutely unafraid you are to show your "broken" bits. The fact that you do it so well is a super awesome bonus.

Your writing is beautiful, but more than that, it reads genuine. The emotional and physical details (always insightful, always something the reader recognizes even if they've never consciously thought of it before) give it such verisimilitude. That...I almost feel like that sort of quality in writing can't be taught, you just either have it or you don't, and you have it.

And you're very nice, as well!

"Unique"...that's how your entries are..and I would love to know how your brain works with the prompt to churn out fiction like that..The entries are seriously out of the world. Happy to have you here and it's a pleasure reading you.
