Vote! Week 27

A few words from [livejournal.com profile] clauderainsrm:
It's one shake-up after another. But by now, you're pretty much used to that. Anyone who knows where the next step is going to be at this point is either fooling themselves, or well they know me pretty well!*G*

I gave the jury time to deliberate before results started coming in because their decision was going to be a hard one. They didn't realize it was going to be making one of the biggest impacts in the game thus far!

Which is only appropriate considering that this is the last week where the jury is in place.

I gave them the usual instructions. Read the entries and rank your favorites 1-7 (1 being the best). I told them to do this separately with each topic.

Which means, you would think, that we would be handing out TWO IMMUNITIES this week right?

*shakes head* Nope.

Because it's the person with the lowest vote total in the first one, the person with the lowest vote total in the second, and the person (other than those two) with the lowest *COMBINED* vote total.

That's right, in a field of 7, *3* of them are off the hook this week and have a spot in our Top 5. The other four will have to fight for those last two spots!!

Who has immunity? It was *close* in all categories, but in the end the three spots went to:
[livejournal.com profile] chite
[livejournal.com profile] imafarmgirl
[livejournal.com profile] porcelain72

So congratulations to you, and thank you to the jury for your hard work over the last couple of weeks!

As for the poll… voting starts now and will close Sunday May 18th at 9am EDT. That's a really short window for such high stakes! The vote totals for each entry will be combined, the two with the lowest vote totals will be going home.

Good luck to all of you. All of you deserve to be here, and all of you deserve a spot in the Top 5. Unfortunately though people do have to be cut, and it's up to the voters to decide who that is going to be.

[Poll #1189088]

I'm one of those who reads from the clicky on the poll. I read all the entries at one time, so that none of them gets an advantage or disadvantage from my mood, so when I see the folks on my friends list post their entries, I skip them until I read from the poll.

It is interesting to see, though, the difference in votes for the immunity group and the non-immunity group. It illustrates the power of the pimping, which is my least favorite aspect of the game.

[identity profile] kittenboo.livejournal.com 2008-05-17 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
although that is true about the pimping, that isn't the only reason for the big difference in votes. For example, there are entries that I liked from people with immunity. But I didn't vote for them because the vote is meaningless. I'm guess other contestants did the same thing.

[identity profile] eqfe.livejournal.com 2008-05-17 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I couldn't agree more. I can't imagine that some people wouldn't vote for people who have immunity, given how pointless that would be.

[identity profile] kathrynrose.livejournal.com 2008-05-17 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe I'm weird, but I'm still voting for the entry, regardless of who wrote it and who has immunity. The votes may not affect who stays and who goes on, but I think they still mean something, if only a "way to go" for the writers.

[identity profile] eqfe.livejournal.com 2008-05-17 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
It may of not be weird, my point is that its unusual enough that "pimping" is not IMO the major reason that the votes are do divergent between those for whom it matters, and those for whom its sort of pointless.

Here, here!

I agree with you. WHile I almost didn't vote for someone who has immunity, I ended up doing so because I feel she is a very strong writer, and I like supporting her regardless.

I've been thinking the various aspects of the game, and again from my perspective as a pure spectator, pimping, especially at this stage doesn't bother me half as much as all the IMHO silly ass twists and turns like cage matches, partnerships (I think they were called intersections), immunity, gold stars bringing people back after they were eliminated etc. It seems to me that those things were less connected to this being a writing competition than pimping. The first time I encountered your writing and voted for you, I actually didn't vote for the person that pimped me in. But I'm weird that way.

[identity profile] kathrynrose.livejournal.com 2008-05-17 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
The irony in that is you wouldn't have been able to vote for me, were it not for the twists. I didn't enter the game at the beginning. I came late to the party, wrote some Home Game entries, and was brought in through one of those plot twists.

The only twist I really disliked were the cage matches, because feelings were hurt. Intersections were momentarily uncomfortable because of flashbacks to PE class, but I got lucky with good partners. In fact, both my partners have made it to the top five. I guess I know how to pick 'em. :)

And you actually ended up being one of the contestants I liked most. So some of the game twists, I've had appreciation for.

Of course, I find myself wishing I'd held onto those 30 votes that I could've taken. But alas.

And you actually ended up being one of the contestants I liked most.

Thank you. It's mutual.

Next year. :)

Next year. :)

Not so much.

[identity profile] eqfe.livejournal.com 2008-05-17 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Fair enough, I probably didn't start reading until you were already in.

[identity profile] eqfe.livejournal.com 2008-05-17 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
and if the poll only had those actually still competing this week you would have quite effortlessly read all the entries anyway. I read most of the entries all at once, but from the page where they are linked, usually the night before they are due.

[identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com 2008-05-17 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I do the same thing - I read from the poll entries too, because it is easier. I either read it and click the box, or read it and don't click the box. I don't have to keep a separate list to remind myself whose I liked or didn't care for. :)
