Green Room - Week 4 Day 4

Good morning!  How is everyone today?

LJ Idol Tech Support wishes she could have taken a sick day.  (Stupid cold.)  Our fabulous host was running late this morning and asked me to post the Green Room.  Go me!

What's going on in your lives today?  I've seen a lot of buzz about the debate last night.  I didn't get to watch because I was at my other job.

What's going on in my life today?  Well, I arranged to work last night so that I could have tonight off so I can watch the Packers beat play the Cowboys tonight.  (Please, for the love of football, let them win...  please?)  I've been extra careful not to talk smack when it comes to my beloved boys in Green & Gold this year.  I don't want to run the chance of jinxing anything.  Should be a good game though!  I'm heading to a bar to watch it since it's on the NFL Network.  Cheese curds will be eaten.  Oh yes.  Cheese curds will be eaten.

That's about it for me.  I'm off to update my poll tables with the latest entries.

Speaking of entries...   post them here!  The deadline is coming up fast!  Don't make me post your name tomorrow morning.  :-)

Envy of anyone caught up with reading.

My husband complained that LJ Idol was taking over my life, [HUSH you!] so I compromised.

I only read entries at night, disconnecting my laptop from its docking station and joining him in the living room. We can watch TV together that way.

It is going to be a long, long night...

I just commented about this elsewhere, but actually the reading is going well for me. Because the topic is so much more open ended, there's a nice diversity of issues. It isn't one thanksgiving list after another which really helped keep my interest. I got through the reading faster than I thought and I think will have the time to go thru and comment this week, woot!

ETA: On the other hand, I just finished counting 'em up and I have74 entries left unaccounted for, eg, potentially 74 more articles to read. o.O

Submissions do seem to be coming in more slowly on this one...

I have 72 contestants unaccounted for.

I also have only 26 of the 51 submitted entries read. I'm really behind on this one (but I think that's 'cause it took longer for me to write, and we have less time).

Tonight, I hope to get caught up (but by then there will be at least 15 more submitted, I'm sure).

Yeah, I figure I'm off a bit because I'm tracking the articles, so there's a lag on my incoming emails and what's just been posted. So that should be within the margin of error. Or I need to double check my inbox again *g*

Yeah, I track it too. Just in case it helps: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pQTxQ5f5DX7MymFFudcSDZQ

Oh yes. What I meant, though is that I use the little pushbutton thingie that emails me everytime someone posts to the Topic Post on [livejournal.com profile] therealljidol. The email seems to lag a bit going thru the intartoobs, so...

Oh yeah, I do that too. I was just including my list in case it helped you figure out which you were missing. I don't look at the entry at all. I rely completely on my email.

While my scale hasn't changed (1 ewww, 3 average, 5 omg), the average rating for the entries HAS gone up this week, at least of the ones I have read so far.

I suspect it is because it is almost an open-topic, so there is more chance for creativity and self expression (even though this is the case for all topics, it doesn't always feel that way).

Still... reading "I had a hard time coming up with an article" or "I almost took a bye" is guaranteed to annoy me if I see it in the first paragraph. Put in an aside or footnote at the end, it hasn't affected my evaluation at all.

First impressions of a written piece is just as important to me as the final content.

Don't envy me, I am unusually far behind this week. Must get cracking.
