Green Room - Week 2 - Day 1

Tonight has been moving along faster than it takes for Lois Lerner to take the 5th, and here we are, already into the "morning after" the polls have closed.

The results are here: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/654816.html
The new topic for the main competition is located: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/654975.html
and Second Chance Idol has even gotten into the fun: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/655296.html

So really, it's a little something for everyone!

Did you pick your topic out immediately, or are you still allowing the choices to swim in your brain for long enough for a coherent thought to form around one of them?

Just a bit of Devil's advocacy here, buuuut...IME, some of the biggest "WTF?!" topics have yielded some of the strongest entries, or at least it seems. I remember when "weak force" dropped in Season 8, for example, we all flipped our collective shit...and then a shitload of people put up some of their strongest work that week, and the variety of the pieces was downright amazing, in that there *was* no "this is what everyone and their dog is doing with this topic this week" trend, because everyone was just running in their own direction. IIRC, Honey Badger in Exhibit A was a similar situation - everybody WTFed, shook their fists, drew a collective blank at first...then put up some massively strong and powerful pieces. I think the WTF topics serve a higher purpose, even if the only purpose they serve at first is to make everyone shake their fist at the screen and curse like a proverbial wounded pirate who just ran out of rum.

"Honey Badger" was clearer to me, because it carried a whole construct with it. Well, for some of us, at least!

The "Weak Force" was one I wrote crack for, though it's still one of my favorite pieces from Season 8.

So, I'll.... cling to your straw of hope? While sitting here having no idea what I'm going to do with any of those? o_O
