Break Week Vote - Results

Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry this week and to the people who came out to vote.

I know that this is a rough time for everyone to actually *do* something, but I'm glad that you did!

I probably shouldn't have told people it *wasn't* an elimination, until after the fact. But that's just part of luring folks further into the trap! Bwahahahahaha. . . oh wait, I just totally told you my secret plans.

Um. . . . oh, here it is. . .

MIND WIPE!!!

Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry this week and to the people who came out to vote.

This wasn't an elimination, but it was for some items out of my super sekrit left-over from Santa bag. (partially used)

The contestants who submitted this week need to email me at clauderainsrm@gmail.com and their highest choice will be filled, according to how they finished this week (in the case of ties, it's first come first served): http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/406872.html

What is IN the bag? There were 18 people in the poll. So there are 19 presents. Just to make it interesting!

5 Immunities - you have to use it for yourself, before the Top 75 - selected by [livejournal.com profile] pixie117, [livejournal.com profile] tigrkittn, [livejournal.com profile] roina_arwen, [livejournal.com profile] m_malcontent and [livejournal.com profile] ckocher

5 Immunities - you can only give it away to someone else, before the Top 75 - selected by [livejournal.com profile] maizing_grace, [livejournal.com profile] mirrorfortress, [livejournal.com profile] scriblesnbraile, [livejournal.com profile] tijuanagringo and [livejournal.com profile] myrna_bird

3 "Change Tribes" tokens. You can use them, before the deadline, to change to your tribe - selected by [livejournal.com profile] puppetmaker40, [livejournal.com profile] stormkitty, and [livejournal.com profile] joyfulfeather

3 "Extra Bye" - you can only give them to someone else, but it has to be declared before the deadline. Only good until the Top 75. selected by [livejournal.com profile] angelic_mystic and [livejournal.com profile] skylanth

2 "Back into the Game" tokens. Like it says. You can use them any time between now and the Top 75 to bring someone eliminated back into the game. selected by [livejournal.com profile] the_vernacular and [livejournal.com profile] cheshire23

and ONE Topsy Turvy. Good until the Top 50. - selected by [livejournal.com profile] java_fiend

Yeah, I just said that. Happy New Year. Game On.

:nodding:

There's also the "hurt" factor where, for example, if whoever chooses the Topsy Turvy uses it, does the person affected by it walk away saying, "OK, it's a game, I lost, so be it", or does that person take it as a personal offense? That's the line I was initially thinking of, and it's the line many past contestants have had issues with. That was in the past, though, so I don't know if the same would apply this time.

I think the same question/line would apply any time that kind of power came into play! Which then of course begs the question, does the holder of the power take that into account and try not to hurt someone's feelings, or play the game and not worry about feelings? Or worry because of the game, because it could put the proverbial target on their back??

A-HA! This is why this season is called "Take A Chance"!

Which also proves he's evil...but we already knew that ;)

I can't say what anyone else is or should be feeling, but for me, the only type of power that would cause hurt would be one saying "choose one player to remove them from the game". And considering all votes are vote-to-keep, I really don't think Gary would ever put such a power in.

I mean, I know getting barely beat out in the polls by someone who the next week bowed or byed out kind of stung, but that was mostly because I do see getting eliminated a bit as "great, someone else gets to stay and play" and disappearing out of the running ruins my rationalization.

(I'm also nuts. I played an FPS against a friend earlier tonight and was laughing my ass off as I got it handed to me repeatedly. I have practically no competitive instinct.)

That's just it. If you're the competitive sort, you're going to look at all these twists and say, "Game on!" It's like Survivor or The Amazing Race where you may be friends with everybody, but what do you do once the task/topic is announced? Do you see it as friendly competition? Does your inner take-no-prisoners persona emerge in your quest to trounce everybody in the poll? And, if the latter is your goal, what are you going to do to insure yourself not to be eliminated? Or are you going to do the "play it straight" tactic?

Or...if you're not the competitive sort, you're probably quaking in your shoes right at this moment!
