Break Week Vote - Results

Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry this week and to the people who came out to vote.

I know that this is a rough time for everyone to actually *do* something, but I'm glad that you did!

I probably shouldn't have told people it *wasn't* an elimination, until after the fact. But that's just part of luring folks further into the trap! Bwahahahahaha. . . oh wait, I just totally told you my secret plans.

Um. . . . oh, here it is. . .

MIND WIPE!!!

Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry this week and to the people who came out to vote.

This wasn't an elimination, but it was for some items out of my super sekrit left-over from Santa bag. (partially used)

The contestants who submitted this week need to email me at clauderainsrm@gmail.com and their highest choice will be filled, according to how they finished this week (in the case of ties, it's first come first served): http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/406872.html

What is IN the bag? There were 18 people in the poll. So there are 19 presents. Just to make it interesting!

I quite like hornet stirring. But although it's a perfectly legitimate power and all part of the game, the amount of resentment it would generate would mean pretty much instant exit from the game. Imagine someone removing joey or drjeff. You'd only do that if you were tired of playing. It makes no sense otherwise.

No, the only reason to have it is to stop others using it.

Unless of course the person using it gains most of their votes from their own friends list. Then it wouldn't matter quite so much. That of if the person on top happened to do something crazy and was disliked by most.

I'd be interested to see where it was used before and the repercussions from that.

I can't remember the details but I do remember there being a huge hoohah. It's a bit like people using the Yield in Amazing Race and others complaining that it's not fair when it's a perfectly legitimate play within the rules of the game. However, I can see people being more legitimately upset about it in Idol which is ostensibly about the writing than in a footrace around the world for a million dollars. Under those circumstances, I'd totally be yielding.

Someone getting most of their votes from their f-list will still get kicked out at the earliest opportunity and they do come up. And the person at the top may well be disliked by a lot, but they won't be disliked by most or they wouldn't be at the top. Even where top vote getters have divided opinion, they've still always had sizeable support.

It would certainly be one of the more creative ways of committing Idol suicide though :oD

You do have good points.

Really though, the whole thing is just getting exciting now. This feels much more "gamey" than last season with all these twists and special things. :)

Given all this analysis of motivation, I wonder how many of the gift recipients actually asked for it, or would admit to it.

In the interest of complete disclosure, it was close to the top of my list but not first.

You've got a point there ;)
