Let's see, what's on my plate...

*Gearing up to help my girlfriend in a legal battle. The state is violating the ADA and trying to fire her for having a mental health condition.

*Gearing up for my surgery, which is a week from today (eep!).

*Trying not to strangle stupid co-workers.

*Trying to sell my house.

*Trying to find a house in Texas.

*Trying to help girlfriend find a job in Texas.

Aargh.

Been fired for having a mental condition. Unfortunately, I was in an at-will state, and it was rather difficult to prove it was for anything other than "We told you to come back to work. Not our fault if you are unable to because the doctor won't sign the release yet."

That's just it - her doctor *did* sign a release and say she was more than fine to come back. *They* have decided that her mental illness makes her unqualified to work.

Sure, she's better off not having to work for people like that - but anywhere would be better off not *having* people like that working for them.

they're evil. and although not relevant to the particular case at hand, they have also been discriminatory towards both of us on the basis of sexual orientation and towards me on the basis of religion.

Although I wonder in this particular case if that will end up helping you if you have documentation - to show a pattern of behavior toward her. I would *hope* that it would.

Unfortunately, they can get away with the sexual orientation stuff - it's not a protected class in North Carolina.

We do have documentation of some of the MH stuff (it's a *long* story), and have filed an EEO complaint.

I figured that might be the case. It will *never* make sense to me. I hope that sooner or later people will open up their eyes and realize that it doesn't make sense period.
