Green Room - Week 27 - 5

This way to the polls: http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/344438.html
because that's where the fun is!! :)

(and all the entries!!)

*This* is the place where I mention to [livejournal.com profile] kittymichaels that my girls left me two parts of a lizard in front of my computer this morning. I thanked them although I didn't play with it. Maybe I should have. Apparently dead lizards are awesome. If cats like them, there's got to be something to them.

Fortunately it was *not* the lizard that the Dead Milkman saw in their backyard!!
That would have been awkward.

It's also the place where I say "Hey, how are YOU doing?" and you tell me, and random conversations start as a result. And then someone comes in with a bit of an attitude and insults your opinion about something and you get into a debate... then everyone puts on chicken suits and it turns into some sort of wrestling match Or does that part only happen in my head? ;)

Remember that time I said I wouldn't be around as much because now I'm playing Final Fantasy more again? Yeah, it froze in the middle of my son playing it this morning and now the PS3 won't recognise any discs - games, blu-rays, anything. So I spent a good portion of today trying to figure out how to fix it and am now onto my second last resort - reformatting the hard drive. If this doesn't work, we're going to have to get a replacement drive :(

Oh, that just sucks :( My brother had this happen to him recently. He had to send the PS3 back to Sony and they fixed it (for $150). Something to do with the laser in his case. Hope it's much simpler for you!

Nope, looks like that's exactly what we're going to have to do too. Price sounds right for what I found online. I don't know where we have to send it in Malaysia or how much it'll cost here, though. At least reformatting didn't cause me any extra issues and the backups worked fine.

Oh that sucks. I don't know how they do it over there, but they sent a box to my mom (overnight I believe) and she mailed it in. I believe it took a week or two, but I could be wrong. Apparently it is a common issue and that is about all you can do about it when the laser goes out.

Well... from the reading I'm doing, it seems like that's Sony's idea of what the problem is, but it isn't actually the laser, Sony just wants people to fork over $150. Someone on the PS web site said they had a solution if I PM them, so hopefully I'll get a better resolve that way. Seeing people say the same thing happens again days, weeks or months after having that part replaced doesn't make me want to fork over money for it to be "fixed."

It really, really does. Especially when it's both your video game system and affects your ability to watch blu-ray movies! LOL.

[identity profile] sra33.livejournal.com 2010-05-25 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Eep! No movies OR games?! That's crippling! Most of my movies I watch on the computer, and my video games are on here, as well as internet, so if something happens to it (knocks really hard on wood), I'd be seriously SOL.

I can watch DVDs because I have other DVD players, which is why I just said blu-rays ;) But yeah, it's f'ed up, especially when I'm finding out how many people have been affected in the same way.

stupid piece of electronics! I hate how we spend so much on these devices these days and they break so easily. My dad still has a VCR from like 1982 and the thing STILL works without any trouble. It's like a TANK.

I'm not at all happy when reading up how many people have been affected by this issue on older model PS3s. :( I wish they still built things that lasted that long, too! But of course they want us to spend more on such things when they break, don't they?
