Green Room - Week 26 - Day 5
In case you missed the announcement at the end of last night's Green Room - there is now a facebook group for anyone interested in having something else to click "like" on.
The question was asked about if there was a way to set your fb privacy settings so that it didn't show up on your profile. I'll be honest, I have no idea - so I'm going to ASK DR LJ. Or I guess in this case "Ask Programmer LJ".
I'm not planning on really doing much with that group right now. It's mostly a placeholder to have a presence over there, hopefully to help direct people back here. :)

In case you missed it (and you better not have)there are new topic entries being posted: http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/338480.html
Be the first one on your Friends List to read and comment to/about them!!

Heck, to be completely honest, it's days like this when I take a look at my life and go "Season 7? Really?"

Just throw out some bigger twists next week, and you'll have all the GR traffic you can take!

But I'm still bound by my word not to post more than I *need* to post, and need to assess actual usage for the next few weeks. I'm sure the closer we get to the end the more active people will get again. That's how it usually works at least.
It's just kind of sad to see so much going on *behind the scenes* and so little "in front of the camera".
The twists are pre-set, so whatever is on tap for next week was always going to be there. :)

I'm completely unaware of anything happening behind the scenes, and I kind of like it that way! :)

I have to admit, though, that I'm always a bit put off when you talk about Idol like a brand. I understand that it *does* have equity, and that it needs to *keep* and *build* equity to keep the community and the game going. But at the same time, I sometimes feel like we're ants in your ant farm, and you just want to maintain the conditions necessary for us to keep producing and recruiting new ants.

Then, of course, we're knocked out of the habit of checking LJI every day, so you lose a few people here and there.
I've noticed all season that a certain percentage of participants vanish once they're voted off (or, rather, not voted in). I'm not all that surprised to see the numbers dropping.
I wonder if starting "the jury" earlier and including more people might not encourage more of the folks to stick around and stay active?

There are things coming up that might get people talking again. Maybe.
This is the start of the general LJ summer drop off anyway.
We will see.

Especially if you have uku thousand applicants next year. If you really have twice what you had this year, you're going to have to eliminate like ten people a week or you'll end up with a two year contest on your hands. :D

I have a plan to deal with a large influx. It will excite some people, upset others and confuse a lot more - in other words, the perfect plan. :D
