Green Room - Week 26 - Day 5

In case you missed the announcement at the end of last night's Green Room - there is now a facebook group for anyone interested in having something else to click "like" on.

The question was asked about if there was a way to set your fb privacy settings so that it didn't show up on your profile. I'll be honest, I have no idea - so I'm going to ASK DR LJ. Or I guess in this case "Ask Programmer LJ".

I'm not planning on really doing much with that group right now. It's mostly a placeholder to have a presence over there, hopefully to help direct people back here. :)

We're just at that point in the season where there aren't a lot of people still in it, and the people still in are getting tired, and there's no drama to whip the masses into a frenzy. It's not a bad thing!

Just throw out some bigger twists next week, and you'll have all the GR traffic you can take!

Assess usage of the Green Room? Or are you using that as an indicator of interest in the game overall?

I'm completely unaware of anything happening behind the scenes, and I kind of like it that way! :)

That's fair.

I have to admit, though, that I'm always a bit put off when you talk about Idol like a brand. I understand that it *does* have equity, and that it needs to *keep* and *build* equity to keep the community and the game going. But at the same time, I sometimes feel like we're ants in your ant farm, and you just want to maintain the conditions necessary for us to keep producing and recruiting new ants.

Hmmmmmmmm... well we can probably manufacture some drama to bring the masses back in a foaming-at-the-mouth frenzy, I'm sure. Whaddya think? :-)

lol... Hey, I do it all for Gary.

Even though my track record betting against you is... ahem... spotty... I bet that there will be a *ton* of people signing up for a Season 7. There were what, 241 this season? With the added exposure over at FB and the convention and all... there could be a pretty big turnout. Want to wager? :-p

I expect there will be more people than this season too, but I have been wrong about other things too.

Oh, I've been wrong about plenty... like backing dear Amanda... *sigh* But I don't think we're wrong about this. :-)

I'm pretty sure we're right about season 7. It'll start around 400-500 people, maybe eliminate 10 or so each week for the first few weeks, plus the inevitable drop-outs as they go "Are these people INSANE??" ... ;)

[identity profile] java-fiend.livejournal.com 2010-05-13 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
lol... it would be seriously insane with that many people. But fun!

This is at least in part because of all of us academics. This is a nasty, nasty time of year for us. I'd be participating a lot more if I didn't have finals and senior events and performances and sporting events and graduation to plan and and and.

Then, of course, we're knocked out of the habit of checking LJI every day, so you lose a few people here and there.

I've noticed all season that a certain percentage of participants vanish once they're voted off (or, rather, not voted in). I'm not all that surprised to see the numbers dropping.

I wonder if starting "the jury" earlier and including more people might not encourage more of the folks to stick around and stay active?

Maybe start LJI with the start of the TV Season? :P

Especially if you have uku thousand applicants next year. If you really have twice what you had this year, you're going to have to eliminate like ten people a week or you'll end up with a two year contest on your hands. :D

I already like it!
