Green Room - Week 24 - Day 3

The new topic is up: http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/333370.html

and it's not raining here anymore. I can't say if it's the same for the rest of you. Maybe you have a storm and maybe it's nice out today. There's no telling what you damn foreigners are going to make up for your "weather".

***

A really good friend of mine did something this morning to make me smile.

Yes, I know that this is a blatant lie because everyone knows that I have no friends and certainly none that would do something so horrible and cruel that would cause *me* to smile. :)

But that's not the point - the point is to then turn around and ask *you* what you have done so far today to make *someone else* smile??

That rain last night was ridonkulous. And I don't make other people smile. At least not this early in the morning.

[identity profile] comedychick.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
You made me smile when you dedicated half an Idol entry to me ;)

I don't think I've made anyone smile yet. I'm the only one awake!

Also, there are some very heavy clouds coming down over the hills. I'm trying to decided if I really want to risk going out to buy us some milk, because it looks like a downpour may be coming. (I think that the member of the house who has milk in her tea should go and fetch the milk, not me XD)

[identity profile] comedychick.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 12:36 pm (UTC)(link)
You should totally let your housemate get the milk. If you don't need it yourself, why take that risk?

Our tornado last night beats your rain. It also meant I didn't get to see The Amazing Race last night due to "breaking weather" alerts from 8 until 9:15. Boo.

I'm at work, wondering what fires I'll have to put out today. No one else is here yet, so no opportunities to make folk smile.

[identity profile] teaberryblue.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 12:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I just woke up and I'm sitting on my sofa, so nobody around to smile!

It is not raining right now but it's supposed to start up again soon!

[identity profile] xo-kizzy-xo.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I have enough issues with the CBS site when it comes to watching TAR's Elimination Station, never mind anything else :p

No tornadoes, but it's supposed to pour buckets up here starting today through Wednesday :p

Oh, and I just woke up, so no smiles until I at least have some coffee.

[identity profile] rattsu.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I there was this discussion in bed this morning about...

..oh, wait, people probably don't need to know about that.

But yes, there have been smiles aplenty in the flat today. Also, slowly getting back into this writing thing, hopefully I'll have an entry up tonight.

I've done several good deeds today, contrary to my nature, and now am desperately hoping that the karma is repaid in being able to buy tickets for the space shuttle launch for my dad.

Just to clarify, I'm not tring to get him ON the shuttle, just to the Causeway to watch the liftoff.

[identity profile] comedychick.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Good luck! Hopefully the good karma works. :)

Gary, can I blame you if I decide to upload some footage from Australian TV (which aired 10+ years ago and has never been released on DVD) if my reason is to make other people smile, and the copyright owners complain about it?

My husband has arrived in Brazil for a conference for it's just me and our son alone for the next week or so, except for when the maid comes around. And maybe we'll have a friend over. This has meant I've been up until 1am-ish the past couple nights playing Final Fantasy XIII. LOL.

Last night I went to the Maine Roller Derby. And I thought that I could catch a late bus. But instead I missed the last bus to Boston. And thus I had to call out to work today because I am currently sitting on a bus to go home.

My weekend was awesome, though. Thanks to those who talked me into living crazy. I got to celebrate birthdays of two dear friends, go to roller derby, and I even got an awesome present for zia_narratora--just because.

Guess now I need to check the new topic and get an idea.

I haven't ingested enough caffeine to be smiling yet. Check back in an hour!

I'm currently worried about a co-worker's 9 month old daughter, Abby. She is in the hospital right now after having had a seizure (I don't know what sort) yesterday. She's had multiple tests done (no results as yet) but apparently had a second seizure about two hours ago. Keep your fingers crossed for her and send her good karma, if you please!

If someone wants to come transport me to a tropical island where I can relax with a book and a fruity drink, though...I'd be all for that. ;)

Out here on the left coast the morning is still early (for me) so I haven't come across any folks to make smile.

Making me smile is our new bed that was delivered yesterday. We moved up to a King and it's comfy. So far, so good.

If I lived in, like, Louisiana I'd make comments about being "here on the left coast." And then my friends would be all, like, "You're in the south, dummy!"

And I'd be all, like, "I was facing west, jackass."

I bet that would shut them up!

Anyone miss me? I was gone since Friday, went on a last minute road trip to Chicago with friends.

This rain has been ridiculous. My home town barely missed being hit by a tornado (typical Missouri weather), and while in Chicago, we spent two days walking around in the rain. Umbrellas are for wusses, so we didn't have anything of the sort on us either (ok, maybe I forgot them in the car, but who needs them anyway?)

I have only interacted with one person so far today and I hope I made him smile, but can't be sure ;)

[identity profile] java-fiend.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh how I do wonder what it would be like to have real and actual weather!!!

I'm glad that the tornado missed your family. That's a very, very, very good thing.

The storm was crazy and I was in it for it's whole trip from Atlanta to Florida. Thankfully we only hit the outer bits of the storm on the drive, but the weather in Atlanta was nutso. Oh, and don't get me started on the horrendous traffic. If I go next year, I'm flying. I'm over 8 hour drives. It was a somewhat productive weekend for me, now it's just a matter to see how long my sketches sit in review with one of the yarn companies.

I woke up this morning to a happy good morning text, and have been smiling all day. I'm going out on an official date tonight (even though it'll be the fourth time we've hung out this month). This is a case of paths crossing a second time in life with better timing for both parties. So that makes me very happy. :)

[identity profile] adoptedwriter.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
The Mothership flew home to Florida yesterday in all that crazy stuff.
We had a Tornado watch here in Ohio on Sat night. Yep...It's that time o the year, and we've never been in Kansas anyway!
I finished a book / homework assignment and made MYSELF smile! I probably made some students smile when they realized they had a sub teacher for the day.
And then there's my 5 kitties, who ALWAYS make me smile....(see icon) Tell me...How can you NOT smile if that's the 1st thing you see in the AM and she's head-butting your ear and purring like crazy because you came back to life just for the purpose of feeding kittens???

I made several coworkers smile (and outright guffaw) when I ribbed another coworker... does that count, or is it just mean? Dude I was teasing also laughed, if that helps.

My former landlord made me smile on Saturday when we completed our final walk-through and she said we'd get our entire deposit back! I just have to wait a couple of weeks for the check to arrive, and then I'll have $700 back in my pocket. Hurray!

[identity profile] crimsonplum.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)

Did I make anybody smile today? Hmmmmm... well, I'm sure my cat smiled when I fed the little beast. Of course, his evil tactics to wake me up at O-Dark-Thirty to perform said feeding did nothing to make me smile.

Lots and lots of uncertainty swirling about right now. I really don't like being on unstable footing. Really need to get my head right and stop the swirling mess. Though how to accomplish that isn't quite clear yet. Bleh. Double bleh even.

And I have no idea what to write for this topic. I think I would be far more productive if I just went home and crawled back under the covers.

[identity profile] beautyofgrey.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm with you on the topic. I've had several fleeting ideas but nothing that possessed me enough to type it out.

Of course, I have to work all @#$@#$!#$!@ night, so it won't happen today, anyway.

Also, you always make me smile! :D

Before I know it'll be really hot out...

Hmmm...today my second graders really got on my nerves. And I made them smile in the process. See, instead of flippin' a lid and making them pray to Jesus for early pickup, I growled at them like a bear. Loud too. With claws. And they laughed and laughed, which in turn made me laugh. :)

Something that made me smile. My sister-in-law gave birth about two weeks ago, but the baby has been in ICU on a respirator due to MAS since birth. His mom finally got to hold him for the first time yesterday. I'd say that's reason to smile.

I made my children smile this morning just by existing. It's great when they're still small enough for that to be possible. Then I undid all of that by putting the cat in a box to go to the vets so now she hates me (but at least she's healing well, even if she does look like some gruesome extra from a horror film). Then I made the children smile again by getting them lollipops after doing the fruit and veg shop. So overall, I'm ahead right now, although I'll probably be undoing that when we do our Maths and English in a minute.

[identity profile] mstrobel.livejournal.com 2010-04-27 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
My mom's existence still makes me smile, and I'm ... well, a lot older than your kids! XD

At least putting the cat into the box didn't result in you looking like a gruesome horror movie extra ;-)
