Green Room - Week 3/4 -Weekend Edition
The poll closes tonight, so make sure you get your votes in! I checked last night and again right now and the race has tightened up even further than it was. Now I have no idea which way it was going to go. www.dreamwidth.org/poll/ What happens over the rest of today is going to have a major impact on who goes home this week.

Did you watch the Olympic opening ceremonies? Paris certain;y knows how to throw a party. ;) Although I'm sure it's super annoying for anyone actually living there.
I remember when the Olympics were in Atlanta, and they had some events in Orlando. The Olympic torch came down a nearby street so I went out to see it. It was when I was about to get married to my first wife. The day of the Olympic Park explosion was my wedding day! I woke up to that news!
We wanted to go to Disney World, but were in our early 20s with no money to do anything, so the closest hotel room anyone could book for us was quite some distance away. (for those who know the area, Haines City) in a car that actually broke down making that trip. :D
Ah, memories... anyway - are you watching the Olympics?
What are you favorite sports to watch? I find that I watch whatever it is on the first few days and then tune out until it's a "big event" and then say I'm going to watch more until it starts getting to the end and realize that I haven't been, watch the last few and say "Next time I'm going to watch more events!" :)

I’m not seeing any events live but if I could watch some live, it would be gymnastics. I wanted to be a gymnast or figure skater as a child and watched both events at the summer and winter games with my grandpa. But everyone loves gymnastics so tickets were super expensive.

I love them all - old and new and trial. I'm a swimmer, so I enjoy the water sports, but I love the skateboarding, the gymnastics, more so the individual events instead of the team events. But it's all good.
When the Olympics are on, DH and I are both watching on our phones, tablets, shop backroom TV and my laptop in the main salesroom area. I can't be without the Olympics - I've been a faithful watcher since I was ten years old or so.

Although I admit that whenever I think of Olympic coverage I think of the old ABC Wide World of Sports intro with “the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.” Both my kiddos are way more serious about sports than I ever was in high school and they’ve both experienced both sides of that equation which just feels like a lot sometimes. And wasn’t there once an LJ Idol topic along those lines. . . ? I feel like there was.
