Yeah, definitely a risk, and this is one of the very few things I tend to get gwumpy about when it comes to this competition. That, and that Gary's gone easy on us until now. ;)
I just get this sense on LJ in general that everything is done off to the side/in groups/in PMs and not anywhere where it can be publicly accessed, anymore. And that includes myself, because I do the majority of my wangsting about the competition (I mean, it HAS been 8 months and I am also getting antsy and close to a personal goal line and I don't think I'm going to hit it and it makes me gwumpy at times) to a choice few individuals.
Part of the "image" thing has also been ingrained in me thanks to the troubles anon groups have given me, in the past. I mean, when someone pretends to be you on fb and sends private messages to everyone who was friends with your (at the time) ex's abuser to out them for their abuse? All because of the stuff you were unafraid to share (at the time) in a public space?
Being the target of anon hate/anon trolling has made me skittish about saying anything remotely controversial in the public spaces of the communities I frequent. So that part may be more projection -- and I will own that. But things have been so quiet in the GR in general, well...
(And this is my way of going FUCK IT'S EIGHT MONTHS I AM GOING INSANE -- by starting discussion in the GRs about the things that ~bother~ me and speaking more freely. Woops)
