My bonus daughter is in Girl Scouts. She hasn't been there a year yet. So far she's enjoying it. But apparently there has recently been a lot of questions from the other girls about "what church do you go to" that have been making her feel like an outsider because she doesn't go to one.
My niece has realized the same thing - about being agendered. The pronoun thing has taken a lot to get used to, but I was recently praised because I apparently do it better than anyone else. (I asked and it's still OK to use the "niece", which I'm happy about, because we haven't found anything we like better and it takes so long to rewire my brain that I probably would be using it anyway. :D)
