Green Room - Week 18 - Day 5

Time is running short, and I can already hear the vans arriving to get into this place to scrub it down during the off season.

I hope they brought a lot of cleaning solution. Some of these stains aren’t going to come out easily.

There is still a poll though -
http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/697433.html

and then one more that will determine who the winner will be!!

So, let’s start the final countdown celebration right now: What was your favorite parts of the Exhibits (A and B)?

Barring a schedule (hahahaha, like we'd ever get to see into the Mind of Gary), the best course of action for intersections would be to ask some of your current contestants ahead of time - ie: "In case of an intersection, if we're both still in it, would you be my partner?" and then everyone keep a list.

It's sort of like the old fashioned dance card. :)

Waltz - KathrynRose
Polka - PornThisWay
ChaCha - AlyceWilson

etc.

This is basically what I ended up doing, but it was still pretty tense. For one thing, I always double checked with my partners to make sure they were still feeling it, and hadn't changed their minds, forgotten, or double-booked the flight. Even with pre-arranging the dance card, there was a huge element of uncertainty as to whether we'd be happy with a particular set of prompts, how well we'd work together, and the ever-present time issue.

[identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com 2013-09-24 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, totally. Time is always an issue, especially if folks are in different time zones. And of course, sometimes a person forgets ("But you promised MEEEE four weeks ago!") because Life Happens.

I'd love to work with you on an Intersection at some point, if we ever get the chance!

[identity profile] lrig-rorrim.livejournal.com 2013-09-24 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, time zones and travel woes were the bane of my intersections this time around.

I would really enjoy working with you! I think we could do something fun and silly together. :) If I do season 9, we should totally dance.

[identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com 2013-09-24 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool beans! I'm in for season 9 (gotta reach my O-ficial 100 Weeks). Where are you located? I'm in the Eastern US timezone.

[identity profile] lrig-rorrim.livejournal.com 2013-09-24 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a US central person, so I'm nicely in the middle. I'll decide on season 9 on a whim, the same way I decided on s8 and the exhibits. We'll see. We'll see. :)

Hey, I like being on your dance card!

[identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com 2013-09-24 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool beans - I like having you there!

Shall we dance?

[identity profile] kathrynrose.livejournal.com 2013-09-24 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Just be careful of your toes. :)

As previously mentioned, I'm not a good partner.

[identity profile] anyonesghost.livejournal.com 2013-09-24 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Which is a fantastic way to do it. :-) --except when one shows up 5 minutes late and finds that Persons A, G, and Q on their dance cards have already been taken for this dance, and then there are rules about a second dance with C, D, and Z, and ... and, well, it's all part of the game, and I wasn't going to spend my time along the far wall waiting for someone to wander by, but it was stressful even for me.

And (I like to think that) I'm fairly mellow, and easy to work with. :-)

This isn't me saying No More Intersections, mind; I had a fantastic time during them. Just contributing my POV.

[identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com 2013-09-24 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Valid points, quite! Of course, "showing up 5 minutes late" isn't relevant if you've pre-selected each other ahead of time, you know?

Like in Week 1, perhaps you and Player A agree to partner up for the first intersection, so when that intersection happens in Week 4, assuming that Player A hasn't yet been voted out, you're all set. Of course, in cases where Player A *has* been voted out, or had to drop due to RL getting in the way, then you're up a creek unless you've already got a back-up settled upon, but there you go. :)

I too am fairly mellow and easy to work with, AFAIK. Which isn't to say that I'm unopinionated about how a story should go, but I'm still easy to deal with and willing to compromise. :)

This is starting to sound like OKCupid or Match.com.

HEY PTW! There's a meta post in here somewhere!

[identity profile] porn-this-way.livejournal.com 2013-09-24 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
*files this idea away for future shenanigans *

[identity profile] porn-this-way.livejournal.com 2013-09-24 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course, "showing up 5 minutes late" isn't relevant if you've pre-selected each other ahead of time, you know?

Not necessarily! I had a situation where I'd pre-planned to work with someone who forgot they said they were gonna work with me, and "panic" does not even BEGIN to describe the resulting scramble. I was in the middle of Nowhere, Indiana with one come-and-go bar of 3G service on my phone and no reliable WiFi.

[identity profile] kathrynrose.livejournal.com 2013-09-24 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
And that sounds like a Country and Western song.

HEY PTW... etc.

(I am in a mood today. Be afraid.)

[identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com 2013-09-24 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Which part of it sounds like a C&W song?

I sort of like the sound of the "Come and Go Bar", LOL.

[identity profile] kathrynrose.livejournal.com 2013-09-24 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I was in the middle of Nowhere, Indiana with one come-and-go bar of 3G service on my phone and no reliable WiFi.

A modern-ish country song.

'course, it doesn't say anything about mama, or prisons, or trains.

(Icon love, btw)

[identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com 2013-09-24 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, that's about what I thought. I does have a bit of C&W twang to it, doesn't it? I think the singer is a prisoner to the unreliable come-and-go cell phone signal, because they are traveling by train with their mama!

And thank you! (I call this one Won't You Be My Neigh-Purr?)

[identity profile] kathrynrose.livejournal.com 2013-09-24 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I believe she was on a plane, but it works.

I call this one Won't You Be My Neigh-Purr?

Of course you do. :)

[identity profile] porn-this-way.livejournal.com 2013-09-24 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Nono, the plane was a DIFFERENT issue! That was "in-flight WiFi not working after the poll close\new topic posting got switched from Thursday night to Friday noon." The first one was the country song :P

[identity profile] porn-this-way.livejournal.com 2013-09-24 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
lmao...THIS THREAD

ETA: And OMG, it *IS* a country song! I mean, I even started out whining about how I got ditched by a partner!
