Green Room - Week 14 - Day 3

A couple of words can change someone’s day.

You can make them positive, and uplift them. You can make them negative and run them into an emotional brick wall.

You can make someone laugh. You can make someone hate you forever.

You can withhold a couple words and have the same impact. Sometimes things are better left unsaid. (Hall and Oates taught us that)

Some words, when withheld, can be devastating.

What words are you going to say today, and who are you going to say them to?

What words aren’t you going to say? I know a couple that I haven’t said, yet – that I look forward to saying to a "couple people" at some point. : ) (especially if today goes anything like yesterday!)

What sort of day are you going to create for the people around you?

And how many of those words are going to be in your entries this week? http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/688434.html (that are due tonight!!)

Today, my goal is to hold back my words, some. Yesterday was a bad day and now it's time to do damage control. Weeee.

Tonight, though, I get to hang out at my old high school and silently cry on the inside with how talented the front ensemble of the marching band is and how I couldn't play better than these kids if I tried. I'm so glad the community voted for raising taxes to keep the arts programs going at Penn.

Isn't it depressing when you see people years younger than you, being super talented? But then you remember they're teenagers and have years of hormonal anguish yet to endure, and then you get a warm feeling of schadenfreude?

Or maybe that's just me...

Mmm, nothing like a good schadenfreude in the morning!

Ah, I owe you email. I shall do that tomorrow :)

Something to look forward to! :)

I think at least 2-3 of the really good ones are seniors, so they're almost done with the teen angst. ;) But my friend was right -- they expect high schoolers to be able to play college-level MB material, now. Like they just keep raising the bar on the kids and the kids keep rising to it. I'm sure if I had been taught how to hold and play with 4 mallets, I'd have been able to do it. But I never was, and now I'm just out of practice in general, lol.

But mmmm, shadenfreude...

Hahahaha

Happy first! And yay for arts programs everywhere!

Yay!

Seriously, I was so mad when they were considering just cutting all of these programs. Seriously? Students need these programs. Ugh. Hell, the whole crew (voluntary or hired) of adults is comprised of like, 90% WP alumni. Obviously these programs are important and we want to pay it forward, y'know?
