Green Room - Week 11 - Day 9
One of my favorite parts of LJ Idol is seeing all these extremely different people coming together, with different tastes and styles. They all show up in one place and try to figure out how to coexist in an internet space together.
Sometimes it works. Sometimes it just sets off a series of mini-explosions.
But, in theory at least, the more time people spend together, the more they realize that "hey, *this* person might not be my cup of tea, but there are a lot of other people who enjoy what they are doing!"
For some people, that will just lead them to the conclusion that those other people are (at best) *Wrong*. ;)
Hopefully though, on some level, they realize that taste is completely and utterly subjective. How many times have you seen a blogger (out there in the Blog/Tumblr/Reddit/Yahoo) universe attached for "bad writing" by people who don't seem to be able to form whole sentences themselves.
It's a shield some folks put up, as a defense mechanism against the rest of the world. They cloud the mirror so that their own reflection can't be seen, so they don't have to deal with it... instead, they act out and lash out.
Have we seen that in Idol. Sure. But I also think that we've seen a lot more personal growth and introspection. People learning from each other, and growing up enough to realize that they *don't* have all the answers, and "good" doesn't start and end with their own personal definitions of it.
Taste is subjective - my tastes are the only one that truly matters. ;)
Well, those and the ones of the cannibal family living in the room next door. They are who greets you when you opt out of the "Home Game".
But other than that - people like what they like, and isn't that a really cool thing?

Currently lounging in bed and contemplating making some banana bread, since we have several over ripe bananas lounging about in their bed!

I'm the only one awake at the moment (not counting the cat) and I feel so bored. I want to go out and do something but can't seem to think of anything to do.

Not *that*
How dare you cause this personal growth thing.
Is it contagious?
Arg.
I promise I am not doing any of that growing up thing.
It sounds painful.

Other than that, I stumbled over this yesterday and so now I must share it: Shark Cat riding a roomba (http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=60e_1375860827)!

Anybody sensing a pattern here? :p
Best ever: I put NSYNC and Miley Cyrus on the jukebox just to see what would happen, and this group of dudes by the bar started dancing. So much win!
