Green Room - Week 8 - Day 1

By popular demand, I have brought in the Home Game thread! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/672071.html

Hopefully, now they won’t get lost in the Green Rooms. HOWEVER, if the Green Room threads continue to not be all that large in the first place, that kind of rules out the need for a separate HR. That goes double for the Work Room, where I’m waiting to actually see a need. If the Green Rooms show me that we need a separate area so that people can brainstorm, well, of course I’ll give one. Right now though, there is plenty of space to have those sorts of conversations here!

Such as: What is your approach to multiple topic weeks/how do you manage your time/select which ones to write? Is it really any different from a single topic week? Do you just write one at a time or tackle them both at the same time?

***

Last night featured goodbyes http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/671490.html and a new group of topics: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/671853.html

Also, a My Little Pony convention. Well, that happened at your house, so you already know about that.

Frist?

Mine!
All mine!!!

Frist! :)

I've never been in long enough to experience a double-entry week!

Tell me, veterans, do your entries relate or do you try to keep that divide there?

[identity profile] michikatinski.livejournal.com 2013-07-10 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
My very first frist, too! :-D

[identity profile] michikatinski.livejournal.com 2013-07-10 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my goodness, my first GR frist ever! Caught this in between feeding and burping Baby Idol (better known to many of you as Decimal).

Let's see- two of the topics actually speak to me this week (yay!) and I'm thinking I'll tackle one at a time, with some clever/deep link between the two forged in the editing. Or perhaps the lack of relationship between them will be the link. Or perhaps they shall stand entirely alone whilst I hum about Eleanor Rigby.

Writing two pieces the way I might write an intersection with someone- I.e. proactively tying them together before the writing begins- might also be helpful. I won't know my tactical approach till I've had a chance to let the topics percolate through my subconscious for a little bit.

The first idea lent itself to four topics and two entries. So I'll, um, be intersecting with myself. ... twice. ... metaphorically. And in what I think will be a fairly unique way.

... by Friday, because I have no time to work on these over the weekend.

[identity profile] michikatinski.livejournal.com 2013-07-10 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I've never made it this far, either! *high-fives* :)

Don't know yet how I'll go. But at least I've picked a couple topics! That counts, right?

[identity profile] michikatinski.livejournal.com 2013-07-10 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Gooooo, you! Getting them done by the end of the workweek is good practice for the future evils Gary will bestow upon us.

[identity profile] michikatinski.livejournal.com 2013-07-10 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I wonder if they still add sniffable scents to the pony plastic. :-D

I made it to the first week of multiple entries. I tried to make each stand alone that week, and it worked fairly well.

I home-gamed the REAL hell-week, and the first six topics were used in a choose-your-own-adventure piece I wrote, and then most after that were me writing a chunk of one of my books in order. I did all 17 topics for that home-game just to see if I could. I remember being pretty burnt out after it, lol.

I don't know if I can think about topics today, or Idol, or much of anything. The little girl woke up at 2:45 this morning. She. never. went. back. to. bed. I need a whole to crawl into. Somewhere nice and dark and peaceful.

Been there! She'll take a nap eventually. Once she passes out, get a nap yourself if you can. My child used to pull that all the time when he was 2, used to drive me absolutely insane.

This is my first time with double entries, too! Well, I think it is... Yeah, my memory of season 7 is fuzzy, but I think I haven't done it before.

I'm just glad we have until Monday to turn in our entries. I have no ideas yet! I guess I need to tear my brain away from planning the Big Bang fic I'm signed up for. Hopefully I can come up with something for these prompts quickly!

Yay, Frist! Your Frist cherry is now broken!

[identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com 2013-07-10 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmmm... plastic ponies! It's been decades since I've owned any....

having never made it to a multiple topic week ;D

I think I'd write the topic that spoke to me first, and then write the next entry, or maybe do what I did last week and brainstorm on all the topics and then write. I already have an idea for a HG entry for at least one topic. I'll see if I can do two

[identity profile] theun4givables.livejournal.com 2013-07-10 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
When it comes to writing multiple entries, I try to go with the flow of things. Pick the topics that grab my interest and produce something as quickly as possible, then move on to the next topic, repeat.

Thing is, this week I am stumped. I don't know what I want to write for any of them. I told myself I've got until the weekend to come up with ideas. I can write and edit two entries in two days. I just would rather not wait that long, lol.

[identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com 2013-07-10 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm... I've been playing since season 4 (but never get all the way through), and I think this MAY be my first two-topic week as well. Huh.

Still sort of stumped as to which topics to choose. I'll probably go with what seems easiest, then go from there.

I had 2 1/2 hours to take a nap while they are in preschool this morning. Forty minutes into my nap, the 3 year old neighbor child waltzes into my family room looking for my kids. Naked as the day she was born and ready to play! lol

[identity profile] lawchicky.livejournal.com 2013-07-10 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
How did you know about the My Little Pony convention?? Well, that happens most days around here actually.

[identity profile] millysdaughter.livejournal.com 2013-07-10 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I claimed them as my own when my daughters outgrew them...

[identity profile] millysdaughter.livejournal.com 2013-07-10 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
If not...they would not be real.

[identity profile] eeyore-grrl.livejournal.com 2013-07-10 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm guessing it can also be one piece spanning both topics, without the separateness obvious?

[identity profile] joyfulfeather.livejournal.com 2013-07-10 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Typically not - the point is to write multiple entries in a single week.
