NaNoWritMoorDie - third deadline

You survived a Presidential election, and the first two deadlines!

Will you survive the third?

I don't know. I don't have a crystal ball to stare into and see the future. Or do I? And if so, what am I seeing in your future, and why am I laughing so hard?

I know different people are going to go at different paces, and that's fine - as long as you end up where you need to be at the end! With that in mind, make sure you add 6,500 more words to your total by Sunday November 11th at 12:59pm EST! For those playing at home, that means you will be at least 19,000 words into your novel. If you have more? Great. If you have less, and your ultimate goal is less - fine. If you want to make the 50,000 by the end of the month though, you should be about there by the deadline though!

Get to it slackers!

There is so not a way I'm going to make any kind of deadline. I'm failing, failing, failing. BUT still writing.

So this is me, not linking my story, but I might, if I get my arse into gear before then. Also, I wanted to say how I love your abbreviation so much more than the official one.

I think as far as NaNo goes, I've kind of set myself up to fail. I set myself a smaller target (25K) and I am working on a story which I've already written about 5K, and which is actually plotted out quite well. Before, I've always started fresh, and been so excited about the newness of the idea, and the scariness of the wordcount. This time it is... it's just work, you know? And I don't feel like working. Even though I actually still like the story.

I'm not writing anything.

[identity profile] ellakite.livejournal.com 2012-11-08 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
I can't. You eliminated me, remember? And dead men tell no tales...

so i'm just sitting here, waiting for everything to go dark again...

[identity profile] ecosopher.livejournal.com 2012-11-08 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
I'm normally very much a pantser, too, so I think I have indeed plotted it out too thoroughly. I've just yesterday created a new event in the story which will reunite (and to some degree reconcile) my MC with her family, and I hope this'll pull me out of my rut.

It's okay, dude, I'm eliminated, too... :)

[identity profile] theafaye.livejournal.com 2012-11-08 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
There was a second deadline? When did that happen? I missed it!

I should be on course for Saturday. I'm writing roughly 2,000 a day, although that might amp up now that I'm moving on to second stage of the book. It's quite interesting how the story's naturally progressing as it needs to - I had a basic idea to begin with and as I've written, I've gradually known exactly what's needed next. The only real question I have yet to decide is whodunit :oP

Unfortunately, while I have some words and am doing some writing, it's not as much as I need to do. Got hit by overwhelming depression again, started thinking 'Well, what exactly is the point?' and didn't do any for about 4 days. Now I'm trying to decide if it is worth attempting to catch up or not.

Anyone else struggling right now?

Dead men tell no tales eh??

*looks around the room*

Nope, no Johnny Depp - ok I'm picking up on the Pirate references...

[identity profile] tigrkittn.livejournal.com 2012-11-08 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I was eliminated at the first deadline. *blows Bronx cheer at Gary*

Last night I wrote a thousand words of outline. If I start again tonight I need to write about 2100 words a day to finish, instead of 1600. We'll see how tonight goes.

I didn't make it. *sad trombone*

I did finish a fic though, so I find that to be a nice minor victory which I will take.

Sadly I'm only doing 1700 a day. >_> Must. Pace. Self. If I don't I start to go to a very very weird place.

[identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com 2012-11-08 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah... I heard the Pirate reference too! It's not just you. ;)

You mean... we were eliminated together?

[identity profile] ellakite.livejournal.com 2012-11-08 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Like Romeo and Juliet?

Wow. That's so... so... tragic.

I mean, I hoped that my elimination would save someone who would carry on, and perhaps complete NaNoWriMo. And that way, my elimination would not have been in vain.

Instead I learn that I couldn't even save one of my LJI Intersection partners.

Now I *REALLY* feel crappy...

...?

[identity profile] ellakite.livejournal.com 2012-11-08 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
What you talking 'bout, [livejournal.com profile] worldofcharlie? What is this "Johnny Depp" you speak of?

OK, I know what you're referring to... but the line "Dead men tell no tales" was around *LONG* before the movies came along. Disney just made it popular (again)...

As I just told WORLDOFCHARLIE:

Would you mind not peering at me with your glowing green eyes like that? It gives me the friggin' creeps!

however, if you're willing to come over here and sit in my lap, i'll pet you gently until you start purring uncontrollably...

Oh man. I'm having kind of a shitty evening and this cracked me the hell up. Thank you.

[identity profile] ellakite.livejournal.com 2012-11-09 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
I made you laugh.

...

Then my elimination wasn't in vain after all.

...

I can be at peace, now.

i know all about crappy. i am glad i could help.

Again, I will just banish myself to this corner over here with the other overachievers and just call it a night.

(over 30k and counting)

[identity profile] theun4givables.livejournal.com 2012-11-09 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
;)

Well, technically, when this post went up I had 27.7k... and right now I'm at 31.4k

So I'll hit the extra 6.5 tomorrow, most likely.

Yeah I need to stop that lololol

Oh I know that - I rode the ride at Disney quite a lot when I was a youngling. They put a LOT of references to the Disney ride in the first movie, even including the dog with the jailor's keys, LOL.

I'm pretty sure it was a (sort-of) well-known expression before the ride.

[identity profile] ellakite.livejournal.com 2012-11-09 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
It's been decades since I read the book, but I think it was a line in the novel TREASURE ISLAND, which would make the expression well over one hundred years old. It sure as hell sounds like something Long John Silver would say, doesn't it?

And as I just told Gary:

50,000 by the end of Nov so isn't happening, but I like the "at this rate you'll be done by..." feature nanorimo has... and it looks like I'll be done by late January! I intend to keep nickle and diming away at it.

Also hello all from the tropics. The tropics are terribly overrated, in my opinion. Far too hot. Brisbane was pretty much the perfect place.

I am behind....I am trying but my depression is kicking my butt. I just want to lay in bed and sleep.

[identity profile] pixiebelle.livejournal.com 2012-11-10 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Deadline met. I had met the last one too. I am 20,515 and this is from writing only two days this week. I'm likely not done tonight either, but wanted to take a break and thought I'd check in.

[identity profile] spydielives.livejournal.com 2012-11-12 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
I'm saving all my... writing... for you.
