I've been taking Bonine since I was a child for the vertigo. I've had experiences like you described since I was a little girl. Back in kindergarten, I remember having to miss our Christmas concert because one minute I was fine, the next the world was spinning. I had to just lie in bed and couldn't move. Even a slight head tilt would make the world go spinning. I had it happen several times to the point that I lost entire days. I was testing for diabetes, some doctors swore it was constant sinus infections... but no one ever had any answers.

I have my own neurosurgeon now, though I failed to do the most recent MRI due to not being able to get out of work. I needed to do that in October and check in. I think maybe an MRI wouldn't be a bad idea... and I never heard they were that bad. I've had a few in the last few years and will need regular ones for my head issues. And I was told by the neurosorgeon that my Chiari is not life threatening to me and he didn't believe it would ever turn that way. But they still do them.

I was also supposed to see an ENT doctor in October to rule out an inner ear issues for the dizziness. Yeah, no time for that either.

I'd think it's worth an MRI just in case you were driving down the highway and had an episode, but that's just me. I know how bad the vertigo can be. Mine doesn't hit like that usually, it comes on slowly or I wake up with it :/
