Green Room - Break - Day 1

Hello there!

If you missed it last night, there were eliminations: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/510864.html and a new topic announcement: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/511031.html that wasn't really a new topic announcement!

***

So, what are you up to today, other than reposting pictures of the "first kiss" from the US Navy?

Which is awesome, but how hard must have people in the PR office been holding their breath that someone unattractive doesn't win that lottery? ;) I'm imagining that every time they dock, that they line up the best looking people on the ship, take a look at pictures of their SOs and decide who gets to put their name into the hat! ;)

***

Some dirty hippies are getting together and doing something. I’m pretty sure it involves hugging. But if you want some sort of smelly “love fest”, then you might want to pop over and check it out http://shadowwolf13.livejournal.com/966783.html - but then get your butt back here pronto! Just remember to shower first…

I'm balancing my checkbook while listening to hammered dulcimer music.

Good morning Green Room! :) It's been a while. The holidays have been crazy! So glad that Gary is kind enough to give us a break until after New Year's.

I have no idea what this First Kiss thing is about? Are they trying to recreate the famous photo?

My gov laptop broke on me and is in for repair. This means I have basically NOTHING to do at work. Guess now is a good time to catch up on my written gifts, eh?

Other than that I'm looking forward to the weekend. We're spending my birthday (Xmas Eve) re0watching all three of the LoTR movie director cuts. Yeah, that's a 12 hour day, plus breaks for feasting, but they ARE my favorite movies ever!

Morning, GR!! I have some extremely exciting news: After not being employed since the end of August 2007, I. GOT. A. JOB!!!!!! Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

It's a Festivus miracle.

I did indeed post a first kiss picture to my Facebook. Sweet.

Now I'm trying to remember which day it is. Vacation mode is finally in full effect.

I'm listening to the cleaners clean, finishing up some work before I head to the office, and trying not to be too frustrated with circumstance and events completely beyond my control.

Other than that, I'm pretty good.

I am listening to Christmas music and doing some gift wrapping before I have to go to work. I want to at least get my mom's done. I'll have some time before work on Saturday, too, though.

PUPPY!!!!

Our middle daughter has been throwing up and I couldn't get hold of my brother, so we couldn't go down to Glastonbury. So instead I got my GORGEOUS puppy. He's just beautiful and I am completely and utterly smitten.

Ok, now that the polls are closed and it won't look like I'm trolling for votes, I want to tell the folks who maybe didn't make it to tribe 4 that my entry this week (http://rt-sparrow.livejournal.com/2122.html) was a parody of the first stave of A Christmas Carol, featuring Gary as Scrooge.

Which, I gotta say, cracked my own self up. :P

[identity profile] rabid1st.livejournal.com 2011-12-22 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
They are certainly an extremely photogenic couple. And, like you, Gary, I did have a cynical moment wondering how much luck was involved in that "lottery." At first, I had heard they were chosen by shipmates, and that made sense because they are a beautiful couple. It also made the story more AWWWW inducing.

As for today, I am waiting for news that my car is ready after its time in the body shop. Fingers crossed I will get the call soon. Three days without a car is two more than I can take.

My hubby and I were hoping to make the drive up to Cheyenne to spend Christmas with family, but weather may prevent that . . . our contingency plan is to snuggle in bed with all the furbabies, play lots of WoW (or Skyrim), and go out for Italian on Christmas day. Is it wrong to kind of hope we get snowed in? *laughs*

It is Day 4 of the furlough and I've polished off everything that had been on the DVR. This entire last season of "Dexter" is officially in the can. I finished a blanket and a couple of Angry Birds toys. And a bootie (I don't like how it came out, so I think it shall forever remain a single bootie).

Today is slated for baking and making fudge for our trip up to my grandparents' house. We leave tomorrow morning, so I've got about 24 hours to get it all done and boxed up. And to make sure I have all the presents ready to roll, too, and oh maybe clothes, too. But first, breakfast and the grocery store!

[identity profile] tigrkittn.livejournal.com 2011-12-22 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
The best birthday present I got yesterday was official notice that I got the job I knew I was getting. I have a start date and everything. I also got a lot less money than I expected and wanted, but I'll make it work. This just means I don't have to feel guilty for leaving when something better comes along - and puts me in a much better negotiating position.

G'Morning Idolers!!!

Anybody else getting a little twitchy about not having a prompt to write on this week??? Oh dear gods, I'm having Idol withdrawals!!!

The day got off to a rocky start... I had to swing by Starbucks to grab a gift card for a co-worker and that part was all well and good. I haven't been into that particular Starbucks for a really, really, really long time. Probably like a year. But I used to go every, single day so I still know a lot of the baristas. Anyway, I figured it's the holidays, why not? And ordered myself a lovely Peppermint Mocha. Yum. But I was busy catching up with the barista and wasn't really paying attention when I ordered said delicious drink... yeah, I didn't even think about making sure they gave this horribly lactose intolerant boy soy milk in my drink. I had already sucked down about half of it when my error dawned on me. And now I feel like total ass. Ugh. Double ugh even. I can't wait to get home. Just a few more hours to go...

On the plus side, it's my "Friday"!!! Woot for that at least!

Hello, GR!

I'm having a quiet day at home with the spousebeast. He mangled his hand at work and is actually in enough pain that he took a sick day (!!!). So, instead of cleaning house as planned, today has turned into an order in from Asia Cafe and watch Buffy kind of day. Which is much better, really. :)

I am now on Day 4 of winter break, and it continues to rule. Today I hope that I'll be able to get my bf to go see some MANCANDY with me in the form of Sherlock Holmes 2. He's really excited about it, but he is kind of claustrophobic so sometimes the theater does not work for us :(

I'm also valiantly resisting the urge to go shopping, though my new apt is like, walking distance from Half-Price Books, so it is difficult! ME WANT BOOKS.

[identity profile] mstrobel.livejournal.com 2011-12-22 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I just had to google Navy First Kiss to see what this was all about!

I LIKE :D

Today we did our big Christmas dinner shop, since I'm cooking on Sunday :) Well, by we I mean my girlfriend was at the shops and I texted her the list from home in my pyjamas. But hey, I'm the one cooking for four people! Although she is making the gravy because it's a skill I sorely lack.

Good afternoon GR!

I saw the photo of the first kiss as well! It was a happy photo and I'm glad they could express their affections publicly now. Of course, I did notice it wasn't two men or happen to be unattractive lesbians. But that's the media for you, isn't it?

I'm counting down until Christmas here! And I'm waiting to see what goes around with these Free Topics are going to be because I'm Idol crazy like that :)

[identity profile] i-love-freddie.livejournal.com 2011-12-22 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I spent the day ranting to my brother about the eliminations, and so now I'm kind of 'meh' about the whole thing.

And getting ready for Christmas preparations. I'm going to my mum's tomorrow for a few days, and that will be when the festive season officially starts!

Wherein our heroine, upon sashaying toward the oven, managed to slip on a fluttering piece of cellophane that had escaped the trash bin and landed so hard on her knee that it's a miracle she can still walk...

Obviously Grace is not my middle name :p

Wonky Foot somehow got involved. That's bothering me more now than the knee. Gotta love it :rolls eyes:

So...how's everybody doing?

:D

It's already a bit interesting to see how people have chosen to use their immunity. At least five of the 'saved' users in this round of voting were at the top or middle of the pack, and did not need the immunity.

Is this a way to ensure that the weaker writers get eliminated, no matter what? In my opinion, only one of the saves was fair, in using it on the lowest voted writer in the group.

Will this push the top writers to stay at the top, once they lost their immunity without needing it?

I'm aware there are a couple of political/mean-spirited ways to use those things. Perhaps the optimist in me wants to give people a second chance, but the realist believes that if you're out, you're out. I guess the immunities seem slightly pointless to me.

Hello GR, it's been a fun day here at work - we had our team's potluck holiday party and the Lemon Ricotta cookies with Lemon Glaze that I made were a huge hit - thank you, Giada de Laurentiis! *burp*

We drew Secret Santas last month, and apparently the girl that I got had me in return, hah! I got a $20 Starbucks gift card from my team in honor of my birthday tomorrow; Bosslady gave everyone $5 Starbucks gift cards plus a holiday greeting card as a little bonus; and my Secret Santa gave me a bag of dark chocolate & carmel Ghirardelli chocolates and a $10 Starbucks gift card, LOL.

For the mathematically challenged that's $35 worth of Starbucks!

I shall be well caffeinated for the next month. Gary, if you find littel indentations in the GR wall, I'd like to apologize in advance - that would be me pinging off the walls from the caffeine, heh.

I am now officially off work until January 3rd - four days of holidays, plus three days of vacation leave, plus weekends. Woot!

Phew - squeaked into round 9! I've been pretty busy making my first batch of all-original blasphemous / offensive Christmas rock music in nearly 20 years. Might as well post it here since few are checking my sockpuppet journal...

http://lossfoundation.com/DSasc-xmas

Not safe for work, children, or possibly devout Catholics. But it rocks pretty hard anyway! Or so I will pretend.

(oh, and the original fruits of my wacky high-school home-recording labor are condensed here: http://lossfoundation.com/llama/ )

Happy holidays, and [/spam]

Things are ok - my grandpa is stable, all my sisters are home, we are currently having Mexican Day (yesterday was On A Boat) and tomorrow is Indian.

I am on holiday! I have two weeks!! I can't even say how thrilled I am.

I am abou tto sip on a gin and soda, and this afternoon we are going to play articulate.

on the whole, I am happy with things

eh, most first kisses don't get professional photos taken it only happens when it's a big deal. Sometimes there is a reporter at the dock to take photos or someone just taking a snap shot, but I doubt there are any photos at all of the first kiss when my fiance came back a few weeks ago.

I've been haveing a heated discorse with the wifi. I want to have a stable connection and it is unwilling to comply.
Aside from that I've posted acouple of things including a springy poem.
I think it could really grow on people.
