Green Room - Week 24 - Day 6

There is still a poll out there, http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/458636.html , to determine who will be moving on. People have been pointing out just how much fiction there is this week. Hopefully that's just how people decided to go with the topic rather than a general direction of the overall season/competition. I guess we will see how things shake out in the coming weeks.

I am currently reading the Bryson book "A Walk in the Woods" and just reached his visit to Centralia, Pennsylvania. More precisely, when he talks about the mine fire that started in 1962 and is still burning today.

If I didn't have to wait a season, I would make that a topic in and of itself, it's so interesting.

But since I have you here - what do *you* have burning, deep down inside? ;)

Yes, I'd say there's a point. I wouldn't know what that point is, though.

If you might recall, my student film, Journey, was basically written as based on my experience with a guy I'd met in Canada... but it's so far removed from what actually happened that I'd call it fiction.

There's probably also non-fiction that people feel more comfortable labelling as fiction rather than fictionalised non-fiction or outright non-fiction. I don't know if anyone's done that in Idol, though.

Well I sort of have put a few things in as fiction that was actually non-fiction...but I did it because I wanted to write about something that was on my mind and not willing to cone out and say it was true.

That being said, a good chunk of my fiction has lots of truth to it. This week? I was angry about the way people respond to different religions and people that are different...I wanted to show that somehow. The Elli piece I wrote with you and mstrobel? There's more truth there than most people would realize. Same with most my fiction pieces...and some aren't fictionalized as all.
