Green Room - Week 24 - Day 6
There is still a poll out there, http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/458636.html , to determine who will be moving on. People have been pointing out just how much fiction there is this week. Hopefully that's just how people decided to go with the topic rather than a general direction of the overall season/competition. I guess we will see how things shake out in the coming weeks.

I am currently reading the Bryson book "A Walk in the Woods" and just reached his visit to Centralia, Pennsylvania. More precisely, when he talks about the mine fire that started in 1962 and is still burning today.

If I didn't have to wait a season, I would make that a topic in and of itself, it's so interesting.
But since I have you here - what do *you* have burning, deep down inside? ;)

As it happens, I posted a home game entry this week that's a fictionalized telling of some very real episodes. A few of the features vary, but I also think that's one of the benefits of Idol and LJ: if you're not clear on where the lines are between what's real and what was created, you can always ask, and most of the folks I read are happy to answer.
I do want to emphasize that I completely respect different opinions on this. We all have distinct tastes in what we like to read, and distinct talents for what we're good at writing; I always hope that none of us have to feel discouraged when the masses, or expressed opinions, diverge from what we have to offer.
All that said, I posted my home game entry in the voting thread the other night. Here it is again, in hopes of getting a few more eyes on it: Insensitive (http://crimsonplum.livejournal.com/13029.html)

However, the main reason I have been thinking about it this time is simply because there is WAY MORE FICTION than there ever has been in Idol before. As in, more than 2/3rds of the entries in this week's poll are fiction. And... I miss the lack of variety. I guess I'm just curious as to why the non-fiction posts have been dwindling of late, that's all.
