Green Room - Week 24 - Day 3

Good morning!!! How are you doing today?

I woke up with a spring in my step. But then I stop and pulled that thing out!!! Springs getting embedded in your foot really hurt!!

I've never pulled a spring out of my foot, but once, I stepped on a rusty carpet staple, jumped up in pain, then slammed the other foot down on the same staple.

Yeah, no getting out of that tetanus shot!

I once stepped on two rusty carpentry nails (the giant ones) at once. One fell out as I hobbled, but the other had to get yanked out by a doctor. I didn't get out of that tetanus shot either and was on crutches for awhile because they thought it may have went through bone...talk about OUCH!

Jeez, you guys win. The worst I had happen was that our pet snake (which we inherited for a brief time) bit me on the underarm and I had to go get a tetanus shot. I was terrified out of mind for the minute it took to stare me right in the eye, and then the other minute to slowly slither off me--I was still and stiff as a board the whole time while crying and panicking inside--but the pain was very brief.

You have/had a pet snake? I'm sooo jealous. I love snakes :)

But being bitten by one? Ouch. The worst animal I've ever been bitten by was a babboon. I still have the scars from that attack...oh wait, I guess that is pretty strange, huh? :P

And we won't go into the long scar that looks as if my foot was once sliced in half...

Well, we had a python on purpose when my husband and I got together, he'd owned it previously. I liked that one, she was used to being handled and was fairly calm. She escaped one time for weeks, and my husband, who was more wary of her than I was, worried about her crawling in bed with us at night. One night I got up to go to the bathroom, and there I am, on the toilet, and I glance over... and there's the snake, just lying there, stretched out next to the bath tub. We got her back in the cage no problem. She didn't scare me at all. We had her about four years before she died. Not sure why she died.

The second one we had we inherited from the person who was renting our guest house when they moved out. That python wasn't used to being handled, and she moved kind of erratically. I was trying to get her used to handling, taking her out in the evenings, and then she got confused one time and bit me. I couldn't get back on the horse after that. It didn't hurt too much (and truth is, I know now, if you have a snake you're likely to get bitten at least once or twice by mistake), but the absolute sheer terror I experienced (completely irrational) ruined me for working with her. My husband had a guy who takes care of/handles all kinds of snakes come and get her.

Okay, I have to know, how did you get bitten by a baboon, of all things? The strangest thing that's ever happened to me was getting bitten by a donkey (which I'm told is their way of being playful).

My cousin had a python once. He didn't play nice with others and often got out as well....he held their bathroom captive for a couple days once since he escaped and made his way in there and there as no way they could handle him. They got him as he was older and not socialized...he was a very mean snake. My cousin, being the animal lover that he is, couldn't find a home for him and refused killing him so they kept him for a very long time until he died or someone took him that he trusted...but he was creepy.

I like big snakes, but because I also have a fondness for my cat, I think I will stick to ones that can't eat her :)

And the baboon story isn't as fun as it sounds. I was at a parade as a teen, and this family had a baby baboon wearing a diaper and riding around in his little wagon. He was very friendly, everyone was petting him. The little guy got scared though, I reached over to pet him and he freaked out. He turned around, making a hissing sound and grabbed my arm where he proceeded to bite and scratch me until his owner pulled him off. That sucker was strong too! I felt more sorry for him though as they were very cruel to him afterward :( I still think about that poor little guy. It's not his fault he was scared.

Aww, poor thing :(

I think I was bitten by someone's pet raccoon once, though it can't have been that bad if I can't remember for sure. XD

No no... you win. Really! :o

Speaking of tetanus shots though... there was one point in the hospital, after my first c-section where I sat there thinking "Ya know, at this moment, my damn tetanus shot site hurts worse than my incision."

And I know my needles! XD

It was only painful for a few second, but it was terrifying. My husband's cousin, when she was a kid, was leaping over a small fire again and again. She started screaming like she was dying after one jump, and it turned out she had a white-hot nail in her foot, the thee inch long ones. *shudders*

Yeah, that tetanus shot is a painful one, takes days to go away!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

[identity profile] comedychick.livejournal.com 2011-05-04 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Holy shit that sounds painful!

[identity profile] comedychick.livejournal.com 2011-05-04 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
That's horrible! Sounds worse than what I did to get my last tetanus shot, which was just me stepping on a bit of rusty aluminium.
