Green Room - Week 5 - Day 5

It's nice to be here today through the series of interconnected tubes and lifts that power the so-called "internet connection" that brings us all together so we can post pictures of our favorite cartoon characters.

Which of course brings change.

Giant Tubes + cartoons = a sudden awareness of great social ills and solutions on how to fix them!

Excellent.

Um. . . what do you mean that's not it?

Man. OK - if you know so much, YOU tell me about.

Internets - How does it work?

***

The only thing that I do know for sure is that there is a poll going on - http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/396159.html and the results of that poll will change the fate of mankind as we know it!! (Either that or decide who is making it into Week 6, I get those two confused sometimes!)

So make sure to vote so that large land masses don't tumble into the sea and/or you're favorites end up going home, which amounts to pretty much the same thing.

I almost forgot the most important thing: Welcome to the World Owen Michael Idol chicky! (I assume that's his last name too. :P

I always assumed that the Internet functioned with the help of millions of tiny imps with Post-its (Terry Pratchett style).

Well I dunno about the Internets, but I agree with you, soooo....

HELLO LJI! :D I haven't looked at the polls yet. I need to get 70 more quests in WoW for the Seeker, then I need to build a model house for class tomorrow, THEN I'll be able to read.

Worst case scenario I get it all done tomorrow after class, because tomorrow night is MIDNIGHT CATA PREMIERE! So I'll be doing that all day Tuesday.

Hopefully I get to read them all!

I want to admit something: these past couple of weeks I haven't been moved to comment as much as I'd like. I'll read, and react at least to the level of "Yeah I'll vote for that"/"No I won't vote for that," but I keep having trouble thinking of comments. I'm trying to be better about that, though. And at going into the Green Rooms, where I haven't been as much.

We can always do this game better...

Happens to me every year. I feel like I have nothing to contribute, so I don't say anything....then I feel like a douche for never commenting. *LAUGH*

This is something I've learned after my multiple seasons.....people DO like to simply know you've read it and liked it. It feels good when you realize peopl actually read what you write...AND THEN COME BACK AGAIN! :)

[identity profile] pixiebelle.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree. It's nice to know you read and liked it, even if you don't have anything substantial to add. People seem to like that sort of thing. It's nice to know people enjoyed what you wrote!

I was actually given the option of coffee and bagel in bed this morning, but I got up :)

I'd have had the pups bouncing on my head if I took my noms in bed. hehe

*waves*

It's mid morning and I don't feel alive yet

I've been seeing that thing around on facebook - I dunno if you post using your favorite childhood cartoon character will spread awareness of child abuse (Which is something I hold pretty tightly to the chest). I think that just by spreading awareness period is all we need (be a foster parent, volunteer!)

*needs to get off soapbox* or get breakfast going - whichever happens first

[identity profile] worldofcharlie.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll probably spend the bulk of tomorrow reading/commenting/voting on entries

[identity profile] worldofcharlie.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
*nods* knowing that someone appreciates what you've written is nice *smiles*

[identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
You're putting WoW ahead of LJI? How dare you! *wink*

[identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Everybody appreciates comments - mine aren't always the most original, sometimes just a "Great job, I really liked this" sort of thing, but at least it lets people know that you were there and appreciated their entry.

And welcome to the GR, we're glad you're here!

[identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you should stay on the soapbox - isn't the view nice from up there? *wink*

IT IS A SERIES OF TUBES, GARY.

I just remember when we cured cancer with those ribbon thingies. Or did we stop the war? Hmm.

I'm old enough to remember when people actually left their houses to protest things. How quaint.

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] sistermaryeris and I are bound and determined to run 3 miles today, to make a 5-mile weekend. We're getting there, little by little by little...

Or maybe I just WISH she was bound. Mwahahahahahahaaaa!

Tomorrow I have school until noon, then it'll probably be all reading/commenting/voting, and getting the last quests done that I wasn't able to do today.. Then take a nap, and be up for the midnight premiere! :D

*pokes Gary* I work to keep large land masses from slipping into the sea daily! Stop putting pressure on me!

I am trying to work from home and decide on flowers for my wedding. Joy! It actually snowed here yesterday - just enough for a dusting, which melted away this morning. I can handle that...of course, I cannot handle that it was 80 degrees two weeks ago and it's 40 degrees today. Brrr. But we went out anyway and ate a huge dinner that I will be wearing for the remainder of the year.

Internets = hampsters + electricity + randomosity.

Or something like that.

I made the hubby and I some cheese & sauteed onion omelettes, topped with leftover chili for breakfast, along with a side of hash browns. Nom nom nom!

Otherwise, I'm just doing some laundry and chilling out with My Friend Facebook, and later on I'll read more entries. Hubby is wanting to know what to get me for Christmas and my impending birthday (18 days from now), but there's really nothing that I want. I've added a few books and DVDs to my Amazon wishlist, but there's no "big" present that I want. *shrug*

"Pups bouncing on my head" sounds like some sort of euphemism. heh

[identity profile] the-vernacular.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I read a lot more than I comment, too. I often can't think of something to say that hasn't already been said, and I don't want to sound as if I didn't really read the entry...I've noticed that a lot of comments don't sound like the commenter read the entry, and I don't want to be that person!

I need to do the green room more too!

Depends on the colors of the ribbons as to whether they cured cancer, stopped the war, or prevented child abuse. Each color resonates on a different frequency, ya know.

People LEFT THEIR HOUSES? How scary!

I like where your mind went, my man.

Midnight premiere of what? What is CATA?

Hello everyone. Still studying. Yesterday was a reminder of why I don't do study groups. If you put two nervous people in a room, you get more nervous, not less nervous (at least in my experience). On the other hand, I did start watching Battlestar Galactica last night, and I'm enjoying it so far.

I'm trying to read in my study breaks, but in practice, I wind up refreshing the poll. My tribe is frighteningly close.
