Coming up in the next few weeks, Gary (clauderainrsm the moderator) will be posting a sign-up sheet where everyone who wants to participate can sign up. Gary is also working on an FAQ (which will also be posted soon) which will answer most of your questions.
How it works: a rough sketch. Gary will post a topic. (say it's FIRE) Then he will post a due date. You will then have until the due date to write an entry in your own journal based on the topic. (Fire could equal campfires, a burning building, fire of love in your heart, or even fireballs candy. It's your interpretation.) Entries can be written in any form (prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction, etc). Then you will post the link to your entry back in the topic comments (we'll explain how we do that later on). Once the due date has passed, Gary or Kithan (his asst.) will post a poll. You'll have till "such and such a time" to read all of the entries and cast your votes. (Yes, you can vote for as many entries as you like!) Once the voting closes, Gary will announce the winner and the loser(s). The losers will be out of the game, and then Gary will give us a new topic. And then the chaos starts all over again.
Usually in the first few weeks, Gary tries to give us the topic on a Monday and deadline is Friday. Then Friday the polls go up and voting ends Monday. Once you get your feet wet in the first week or so, then you'll be okay. But beware. Gary likes to throw us curveballs. Like immunity, different deadlines, special powers to affect voting, among others. You can look back through the prior seasons to see the topics used, how we linked, and how everything is set up.
The winner of the whole season is the one who outlasts and outwits everyone else. Winner receives a cool icon and bragging rights about being the winner. (No money prizes or anything.) But we don't do it for the prize. Most of us do it to meet other people and to get ourselves writing again.
