Green Room - Week 14 - Day 3

Good morning.

Now that [livejournal.com profile] shay_writes has dropped out, we stand at 62 contestants.

Let's sit back and consider that for a moment. 62. That's 12 people standing between you and the Top 50. If we *just* lose 5 for the next couple of weeks (the 5 that we have been losing, assuming that there are no more drops or bye-outs), that means we will be there by the end of the month.

But also, consider that it also means that there are 8 people before you will have outlasted *100* other contestants. 100. It boggles MY mind, hopefully it does the same for you.

So if we really do have that short of distance to those points, I should remind everyone again, when we hit the Top 50 mark, all of the byes will go away. No more byes to use.

Also, I've mentioned this in passing in the Green Room over the past week or so a couple times... and so the people who happened to catch it seemed to be working with inside info, but really it was just a case of they saw (and understood) what I said. What did I say? That after 50 we will be having an Intersection. What does that mean? Well I'd imagine the same thing it meant last season.*G*

***

Still waiting to hear on who the 3 people with the power to call someone out have picked. Remember, you guys have until 11am EST on Friday to get me that info. (so we can prepare the polls in time).

***

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

What a long strange trip it's been! I had such *fun* with this week's topic!

*bows* Thank you, thank you. (waits for applause to die down)

I wouldn't be here today, making this speech, if it weren't for my job. Thank you Job for putting me in an earlier time zone so that I can comment early and often!

Re: Grats on first comment!!!

HEHEHE Work is sometimes good for something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[identity profile] rosepurr.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Every two weeks the deposit some money in my account.

Actually, I like my job, I'm just ready to be doing it closer to home.

Re: Grats on first comment!!!

[identity profile] ladyozma.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
that's the other reason where they are useful. :)

HEHE

It is great you like your job! Talk about a blessing! Maybe one day they'll let you telecommunte! HEHE

Re: Grats on first comment!!!

[identity profile] rosepurr.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm moving to a field office closer to home in a week and half. *happy dance*

Re: Grats on first comment!!!

[identity profile] ladyozma.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Rock on! Good luck with the office move! :) And enjoy the much better commute!

Re: Grats on first comment!!!

[identity profile] rosepurr.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. I'm pretty psyched.

Re: Grats on first comment!!!

[identity profile] ladyozma.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I would be too! But then again I live in an area known for commute hell.

The drive last night home for a lot of people was SIX HOURS. Dang weather.

Re: Grats on first comment!!!

[identity profile] rosepurr.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
That's actually not uncommon for me, but then, I only go home on the weekends.

Re: Grats on first comment!!!

[identity profile] ladyozma.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
yuckies....

Sad to say, not uncommon here. And it's gonna get real bad this fall with all the stupid election mess. And I don't want to contemplate January.

What do you do?

Re: Grats on first comment!!!

[identity profile] ladyozma.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
All day meeting? What the heck???? boooo hisssss!

Re: Grats on first comment!!!

[identity profile] worldofcharlie.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah...on the up side about this meeting -- there's a lot of drama -- it's watching Greg trying not to kill John and vice versa. I think they're both asses anyway.

And it's the last two weeks on this bloody stupid job.

What do we do -- supposed to be an audit coordinator -- prep documents/material for IT Audits for auditors from IT system owners - the like. The boss isn't keen on delegating and can't plan tying her own shoes -- so there's not a lot of work being done 80% of the time.

Been interviewing though...

Re: Grats on first comment!!!

[identity profile] ladyozma.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe the two dudes will kill each other. Sell tickets for the cage match. And popcorn. Peeps love their popcorn. Make some side money. Make more money by taking bets on how long each lasts. HEHEHE

Good luck with the interviewing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[identity profile] spydielives.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I enjoyed your entry.

Of course, my addiction is pretty widely known, so I could empathize with yours.

[identity profile] rosepurr.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not an addiction I feel the need to 12 Step. :)

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too! I did juggle a few ideas around at first and struggled to decide what story I wanted to tell. That annoyed me.

[identity profile] rosepurr.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
OoooOOO. I haven't read your entry yet. I will!

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Enjoy! Tell me if it's terrible, k?

[identity profile] rosepurr.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. Standing there with a pink line is terrifying and you captured it so well. It really is a love story.

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Well thank you. I've not really been unsure of an entry yet, but for some reason this one leaves me feeling unsure.

[identity profile] rosepurr.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
It seems like a hard thing to write about. Did you read mine?

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, I haven't gotten to yours yet. But I will soon enough! Tell you what, I'll go read it right now.

[identity profile] rosepurr.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you.

[identity profile] browneyedgirl65.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
No worries. Blew my socks off. Now I have to go find them...

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Well thank you for allowing my the privilege of blowing your socks off.

[identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
Me too! :)

What the heck is an intersection?

[identity profile] ladyozma.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Some of us were not here last season... LOL This must be some reality tv term that I don't get since I ignore most of the reality tv out there. They don't have anything like that on Apprentice or Beauty and the Geek. LOL

OK, what the heck? Is anyone tired today? I actually went to bed early. I got more sleep. I actually got a respectable amount of sleep. And I can barely wake up. What is the deal with that?

Should I go back to sleep? LOL

It's wet and cold out there. I think I may boycott life in general. HAHA

Re: What the heck is an intersection?

[identity profile] rosepurr.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I've tried to go back and look, but I can't seem to find it. I have no idea.

Re: What the heck is an intersection?

[identity profile] ladyozma.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh goodie! With two of us that means we can start the confusion club! HAHAHAHA :)

Well, you can't have any sort of gathering of two or more people and not have cookies. It's just wrong.

Someone has to bring snacks. I hear there's also cheetos! *GRINS*

I know - I was part of one.

Should I share?

I read further down and it looks like some people figured it out.

It actually sounds fun :)

HAHAHA Great schoolhouse rock song!!!

[identity profile] chazari.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
They canceled the college due to weather! No work today!!! Although I will be working on some projects, but I don't have to if I don't want.

*booty dance*

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
College wasn't canceled for me last night and it was a miserable, hateful, awful drive home. I couldn't even get up the hill to my house.

[identity profile] baxaphobia.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Work is cancelled for [livejournal.com profile] imafarmgirl and me. It is absolutely horrible out there.

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Here we had flooding and freezing rain all morning. Now there's a dense fog- it looks like I could jump out of the second floor window and just kind of swim to the ground. There's accidents all over the place. On 95, a truck went on to an off ramp and just kept going on off.

[identity profile] baxaphobia.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
It's still raining and sleeting and Bruno couldn't even move the snow from the front sidewalk because the plow kept clogging and it was just too heavy to shovel. What a mess!

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
It's raining so hard here that they're canceling college classes tonight.

[identity profile] chazari.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I've had days like that. Lately the college has been closing more often which is better for everyone involved.

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Mine was the only one in the state that didn't cancel. Half the class didn't show and I didn't listen to the lesson at all. I shouldn't have gone.

[identity profile] kithan.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm all packed up and ready to go home. I'm half hoping they let me out early but there's still a lot left to train them on, so probably not.

The office down here is 5 minutes away and they don't need me there until 8:30 or 9, so I can sit back and review some work stuff of my own before I go over there.

I think this weekend is going to be a going in the office to work. I can work from home, true, but I can work faster from the office. And the stuff I'm doing, I need files for. Can we go paperless right now?

Have a good day! :)

[identity profile] kithan.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY!

The soda machine on this floor is broke. Grrrr.

*Mutters about an all day meeting*

[identity profile] worldofcharlie.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
How inappropriate would bringing popcorn to an all day meeting be???

I think very -- I know that these group of folks - when in the same room - some have to stay separated at opposite ends of the room to keep them from strangling each other.

SO this explains why I want to bring popcorn. Carrie's one of the scribes for the meeting - so she'll have to take notes on whatever drama comes out of it *s*.

Meeting's all fucking day -- nice part about it -- food will be provided.

Oh yes...I'm stocking up on PEPSIs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ummpfftt...

OH yes..It's Bloody HUMP DAY!!! Who's celebrating?

Re: *Mutters about an all day meeting*

[identity profile] chazari.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Nothing wrong with bringing popcorn to an all day meeting. Throwing it at the speaker and yelling "Boo! Get off the stage!" would be a problem.

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Ya know that there are days that I wanna throttle you and others days I wanna give you a big hug. I think today is a throttle day. *grin*

So we had very pretty snow last night that turned to sleet and is now a driving rain. My butt is staying put in my nice warm house while I pick puppet fur out of my teeth from the wrestling match we had yesterday.

[identity profile] rosepurr.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Man, you're making me homesick!

[identity profile] kithan.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I want to throttle him every day. ;-)

[identity profile] jennieknits.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm, after 50. I wonder how soon after 50... Last time it was 10.

[identity profile] minikin.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, a hint!

[identity profile] kittenboo.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
you would think the dog would pee quicker when there is snow and ice and rain outside, but nooooooo I had to walk her everywhere before she could find a suitable spot this morning.

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
You can't rush a good thing.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Would someone who was here last season please tell us what an Intersection is in game context?
Edited 2008-02-13 14:12 (UTC)

[identity profile] jennieknits.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
From what I can find, it's when we have two topics. We pair up and one writes one topic, and the other writes the other.

Our votes are totaled, and the team(s) with the lowest vote total(s) are eliminated.

[identity profile] minikin.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that sounds like fun!

[identity profile] spydielives.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be the "twist" I mentioned in my earlier cryptic post.

And you have it exactly right.

There are some interesting strategies to survive. If we pair ourselves:

1. The top two pair join and try to dominate
2. Top & middle join and should survive
3. Middle & middle join and have a chance
4. Middle & bottom take their chances
5. Bottom & bottom take a real risk
6. Top & bottom work together to raise bottom's standing

I do not mean to insult anyone with these names; they are only shorthand for the "average no. of votes."

If G pairs us (deliberately or randomly) then who knows what will happen.

[identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
So much of the pairing depends on what the topics are, though. I'd be great for some topics, not so good on others. *shrug*

[identity profile] spydielives.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
I try my best.

Really, I do.

[So who is writing the .... *shsh that should be in your head Spydie* slash?]

[identity profile] gonadsandstrife.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
Not this guy, that's for sure.

http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/54529.html

This is what happened at the top ten last season. Five people were given a spot by a team of judges, and the other five were made up from traditional voting.

[identity profile] jennieknits.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw that, but if you look here: http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/57122.html he actually calls that an intersection...

[identity profile] heykatie.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
D'oh! :) You so smart. I saw your comment after I'd posted mine. I is just a little bit slow. ;)

[identity profile] jennieknits.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Although, anything abnormal that was done in a previous season is probably fair game. So thanks for pointing that one out too. :)

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. I have no idea who I'd partner with.

[identity profile] minikin.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. I just went and read the comments about the final 10 that Jennie posted. I was assumed that Gary would pair us up, but no, we have to choose partners. AAUGH!

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd want to pick [livejournal.com profile] tulip_in_yellow, but I'm sure she'd pick porcelain. Maybe [livejournal.com profile] rm would have me? I dunno. Knowing me, I'd probably pick a friend at the bottom and try to keep them in or something. I'm such a dummy sometimes.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd consider you ;)

I might, though, want to pick someone lower down in the vote-getting because then it avoids the juggernaut accusations, and that's my big issue right now -- not being that sort of target.

Also, if [livejournal.com profile] chite is still in game at that point, it would be logical for me to work with her since we've known each other since we were 15 and could probably coalesce our work more easily. That said, I suspect Gary would assign us randomly.

[identity profile] chite.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I was thinking the same thing.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it's a plan then.

[identity profile] chite.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Excellent.

Now to write this week's entry. Wondering if I should write about my upcoming Annual Weekend of Love.

[identity profile] abbismom.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it would be fun to be paired randomly. At least it takes the pressure off!

[identity profile] imafarmgirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate things like this. I never got picked for a damn thing as a kid. The teacher always had to pick me a partner because I was so unpopular and no one liked me.

Then getting picked a partner smacks of horribly awful group work in college where the other people didn't pull their weight.

Ug, I say.

[identity profile] kittenboo.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
then you have to think about who you'd want as a partner and just p and ask them!

[identity profile] kathrynrose.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, you took my words straight from my brain!

[identity profile] abbismom.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
mwahahahahaha you could pick the choice with the most drama...we all know which one that would be...mwahahahahahaha

[identity profile] kittenboo.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
of course you could combine the two... have a time period for people to pick and whoever doesn't you assign them.

maybe it will be easier on people to pick their own partners now that we all know about it and can think about our options.

[identity profile] kittenboo.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
...and i already found someone, lol

always be prepared :)

[identity profile] shay-writes.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
If I'd stayed in the game and made it to intersection, I was going to ask Heather if she wanted to pair up. :)

[identity profile] kittenboo.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
awwww thanks! I definitely would have paired up with you!

[identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Roll a die! Evens you pair us up randomly; Odds we pair ourselves up. ;)

Makes me think of Schoolhouse Rock!

"Intersection! For excitement! And emotion!"

LOL!

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
::: nods :::

It's definitely something I'd avoid, if I were you.

I didn't know were friends with [livejournal.com profile] chite! You two seem like such an odd couple based on my impressions of you two.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
We went to high school together and have mentioned each other in at least one entry a piece. Our lives were probably more similar in high school (just because 15-year-olds have less to diverge on in any form, really), but I think we're both people whose lives/interests/worldviews can seem quite at odds with what our lives look like on the surface.

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't read every entry posted on Idol- I probably either missed both entries or simply forgot that it was mentioned in your Idol entry- you do tend to mention specific LJ users fairly often in your entries, comparatively.

How would you say that your live diverges from what is apparent on the surface?

[identity profile] chite.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Just so you know, if you read mine and didn't read the comments, you might not have known that I was talking about [livejournal.com profile] rm.

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, ok. I think I read about 70% of the entires, barring these last couple weeks which have been especially difficult ones for me.

[identity profile] roina-arwen.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Would you consider me, too? :)

[identity profile] minikin.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! I was hoping you'd consider me!

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww well that's sweet as pie *big grin* You rock!

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, I don't think I could find a more honest, fierce and effective person to fight alongside in something like that.

And yeah, my friends are dropping like flies lately. If [livejournal.com profile] golden_sands gets eliminated, I'll probably cry.

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I take that as a huge compliment, so thank you.

Sounds like you need to pimp her. I think she could get even more growth from this contest, so I'd like to see her stick around too.

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll definitely be continuing to pimp her. She's having a very hard time in her life right now, though, and I'm worried that it's going to take away from the quality of her entires. Losing [livejournal.com profile] worldofcharlie AND [livejournal.com profile] js_africanus in one week really made this place seem less intimate for me. There's plenty of people I like but few on here that I talk to every day, and they were two of them.

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Then it's up to you to foster other friendships. There are still 62 people here that you might not know very well. Delve into one or a few of them daily. That's how it works :)

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, yeah.

(Anonymous) 2008-02-14 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Right now, I'd practically beg for it.

[identity profile] chazari.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
*Takes off clothes* Oh, not that sort of intimate. *scampers off*

That kind of intimate is OK too!

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
I tend to get very comfortable with small crowds. I'm going to have to learn to get to know new people better.

Re: That kind of intimate is OK too!

[identity profile] chazari.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Getting to know you, getting to know all about you!

With small crowds you know? Or just as one in a bunch of anybody?

Re: That kind of intimate is OK too!

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Small crowds I know VERY well. Things get awkward with me quick. I'm not shy at all- I can be very outgoing and funny when I need to, but I never WANT to.

Re: That kind of intimate is OK too!

[identity profile] chazari.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm the same way. I find people to be very draining, even the ones I know and love. It takes a lot of energy for me to go out and be social, more if I don't really know the people. I'm okay for a while and then I hit a point and I'm done with people and just need to be by myself and recharge. Given the choice I'd rather be home alone or with the Husband reading or knitting, not with people.

Re: That kind of intimate is OK too!

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Draining is the PERFECT word. I went to a party for a coworker last Saturday, and I felt so drained after a couple hours that I actually went outside and hid under the porch (there was a staircase underneath to the basement) and just watched a cat across the street for a while. My girlfriend Jessi is the opposite- she LOVES to be around people. The more the better for her. :-)

Re: That kind of intimate is OK too!

[identity profile] chazari.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I once heard a definition of introverted vs. extroverted that really describes this: An introvert is someone who loses energy being with people and needs to recharge by being alone. An extrovert is someone who gains energy by being with people.

It really describes how I am. I become exhausted after I interact with people for an extended period of time, like more than an hour. I can do it and do it well, but I pay the price later. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just how we are wired.

The Husband is more of an extrovert than I which sounds a lot like Jessi and you.

Re: That kind of intimate is OK too!

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
That's so logical that it's a little scary- energy distribution on an emotional level.

Even chat rooms and too many IM windows can make me feel very drained. One on one? HUGE. I love it. I live on the phone all night when I get home.

Jessi and I complement one another very well. He have tons in common, but we also fill each other's little gaps.

Re: That kind of intimate is OK too!

[identity profile] chazari.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Two people filling in each other's gaps while having a lot in common is a good relationship. Give Jessi an extra hug today.

Re: That kind of intimate is OK too!

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I won't be able to see her. It's our ten month anniversary too! :-( She canceled plans for tonight. I was going to take a bye because I'm busy from 7am-10:30pm every day this week, but she head what this week's Idol topic was and she said "No, you're not taking a bye this week. I need to read that entry." She's been really stressed, and she loves it when I write about her in my LJ. She said she'd rather have that this week since she's going to see me four days this week anyways.

First place two weeks ago. Second last week. Jessi is going to take this entry VERY seriously. One day to work on it. No pressure or anything, right?

Re: That kind of intimate is OK too!

[identity profile] chazari.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! No pressure at all. Just make it perfect and loving and wonderful. As long as it comes from your heart, it will be perfect for her. We girls aren't that demanding. Right?

Re: That kind of intimate is OK too!

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Perfect and loving and wonderful means fantastic for Jessi and I and "That's nice. NEXT!!" for anyone on Idol reading it. I'll need to make it relevant to the readers of Idol. Otherwise, I should just post it in my own LJ and not waste everyone else's time.

Re: That kind of intimate is OK too!

[identity profile] chazari.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think it will be a waste of time. If it's from the heart and written well, that's enough.

Truth of the Heart

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Just like the 57 others? I've got to do more than just write well, methinks. Reading is not a charitable act- it's something that the reader does with the expectation that they'll get something out of it. EVERYONE here will likely engage the emotions of the reader, so that's not going to be enough.

Re: Truth of the Heart

[identity profile] chazari.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
good luck.

I'll probably end up taking your advice. Everyone that I've mentioned it to has said the same things.

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
There once was a man from Wisconsin,

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Man....do you have any friggin idea how hard it is to come up with a word that rhymes with Wisconsin?

[identity profile] dubheach.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Who stored all his cheese in his moccasins...

Work the dialect, no problem, eh?

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Too funny. And a bit nasty, as well.

[identity profile] dubheach.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Next line's yours :)

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, right. I didn't think that some people might pronounce it "un" instead of "in".

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Those are cop-outs. I'm talking about one singular word that rhymes with Wisconsin.

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it IS a limerick. :-) We're not talking The Wasteland (http://www.bartleby.com/201/1.html), here. I was really expecting something like a lewd punny reference to "Johnson" or something.

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I never joke about Johnsons, sugar.

What about Williams?

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's not fun!

Re: What about Williams?

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, Johnsons are fun. But Williams? Who cares! :P

Re: What about Williams?

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Poor Willy! He's always being left out alone in the cold while Johnson's going off and having fun.

Re: What about Williams?

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's what Willy gets for having such a silly name that doesn't make me think "fun" at all.

Alliteraton and rhyme

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you do that on purpose?

Re: Alliteraton and rhyme

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
You're paying attention ;)

Re: Alliteraton and rhyme

Indubitably my intention.

Re: Alliteraton and rhyme

Smashingly splendiferous!

Why do I do this to myself?

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Truly, that's totally tremendous!

Re: Why do I do this to myself?

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I won't let you do it anymore, not with me anyway. I'm off to train for my promotion :)

Re: Why do I do this to myself?

Good luck! :-)

I'm off to Louisville today for early Valentine's. Which means packing up before I go. And running a couple of errands in-town.

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Can I just say that I'm relieved to have finished my entry. Juggling three different ideas nearly had my brain sizzling.

[identity profile] spydielives.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Congrats to everyone who has made it this far. It is a testament to your success as writers, stick-with-it-ness, and the respect you have earned from your fellow contestants.

2. Think positive thoughts for me, please? I would not ordinarily ask, but I need to survive the next 24 hours, and friends will be important.

3. Because I forgot to say so yesterday, those who were recently eliminated will be dearly missed.

[identity profile] jennieknits.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
stick-with-it-ness... is that the technical term?

*hugs*

[identity profile] spydielives.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I decided it was.

I have lost more of my "Top50" due to withdrawals than being voted out. In fact, I have lost as many of my initial picks to "Withdrawn" and "Out Round X".

So yes... those of you who are sticking with the game, through the twists, turns, emotional appeals, and drama.

Please applaud yourselves.

The current bye counts

[identity profile] spydielives.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
For those not keeping track, but are still curious, this is what my spreadsheet has before any declared this round.

2 byes left 18
1 bye left 12
no byes left 32

Total Players 62

(Any one have any discrepancies?)

Re: The current bye counts

[identity profile] jennieknits.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I had to do some calculating ('cause I had the 2 this round already added into my total), but I think mine matches yours.

Re: The current bye counts

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll probably use one next week.

[identity profile] porcelain72.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
While the snow was very pretty last night, the rain has turned it dirty and crappy today, alas.

Working on my post when I can. I was actually considering taking a bye this week as I get accustomed to the new job and all, then decided that it would like kind of odd, considering I picked the alternate topic.

The "intersection" has a lot of potential. I'm hoping we can pick our partners, I predict a significant number of drop-outs if we can't.
Edited 2008-02-13 16:24 (UTC)

[identity profile] rosepurr.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
It was 70 degrees here yesterday. And it's in the mid-60's today.

Yeah, drop outs may occur.

[identity profile] kittenboo.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
i am very nervous about not being able to pick our partners, there are many factors that could make that really difficult

[identity profile] chite.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
We had a pretty big ice storm last night. It's very pretty out in a dangerous kind of way. My office is closed and I moved my appointment with the Dulles Area Association of Realtors to tomorrow, so I can just not worry about getting up the hill from my house.

I think the babe and I are going to stay in pajamas today.

[identity profile] suesniffsglue.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I have another snow day. Two days in a row the schools were canceled and my home clients told me it was too bad to come out. I haven't gotten a single hour of work all week.

One lady did ask me if I could make up the hours on Friday. First of all, I don't have to if they cancel due to weather, but second, she has TEN home hours! Ten in one day? No way, lady.

The intersection idea is terrifying to me. I couldn't even begin to think who I'd pick. I would actually hope we'd have a partner assigned to us. Then, in school I was usually the kid who hated making that decision and in turn loved when the teacher assigned partners.

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't mind joining up with you either.

[identity profile] suesniffsglue.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
:) Thanks! I would definitely enjoy that collaboration. There are quite a few people I'd love to write with, really. I just hate picking people like that. Makes me nervous!

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too. We'll see what happens, I guess. :-/

[identity profile] baxaphobia.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I think we really need to see what the topic will be. could have an effect on who we would want to team with. unless it is open. Oh god!

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'd just pick someone regardless of the topic.

[identity profile] imafarmgirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree. If I picked a person and then had very different views from them about the assigned topic that would be awkward.

[identity profile] kathrynrose.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose, as long as they were writing two entries instead of one, that it could be treated like a high school debate. One partner writing one side, and the other writing the other side.

[identity profile] imafarmgirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm not sure if we are writing two entries or one though.

[identity profile] kathrynrose.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
It sounds like no one is sure about anything.

I think Gary enjoys the stress-inducing.

[identity profile] imafarmgirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)
He does, it causes drama, and it provides him with entertainment. It must be fun to sit back and watch the squirming when you're not participating.

[identity profile] kathrynrose.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 12:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Two weeks ago I was watching, but it didn't seem like there was as much squirming.

I think I should have just waited and joined in next season. Or maybe I just feel that way because I'm having trouble with this week's topic.

[identity profile] kathrynrose.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks.

[identity profile] jennieknits.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Last time there were two topics. One partner wrote about one and the other partner wrote the other.

[identity profile] imafarmgirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool. I have no idea where I was that week as I don't remember any of this.

[identity profile] imafarmgirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Having a great day. A snow day. Yay.

If we still have byes left when we hit fifty do they turn into gold stars, or anything? In other words, is there any advantage to not using them?

[identity profile] baxaphobia.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope so!

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Hell, thems pretty big bragging rights if you ask me.

[identity profile] imafarmgirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps, but only if you are one to brag. Otherwise it doesn't work so good.

[identity profile] tulip-in-yellow.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Valid point. Frankly I think the only person that really gets bragging rights in this contest should be the winner. I think if it were me, which it won't be, I'd brag more about consistently writing for however many months as opposed to bragging about beating people.

[identity profile] baxaphobia.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree. I'm glad I'm still in this thing and have survived. And each week that I make it through is another sigh of relief and another week to try harder.

[identity profile] imafarmgirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd brag about winning for at least one post in my LJ. But I doubt I will so, that is not really a point worth making.

[identity profile] imafarmgirl.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Helpful to know. I haven't used a bye yet. Hmm. I have strongly debated it though.

Colonoscopy and endoscopy both tomorrow. I get to spend my Valentine's Day being probed and probed galore. Still, it's probably going to be better than last year's Valentine's Day.

Now maybe I can think of this week's entry.

Maybe.
