Green Room - Week 14 - Day 2

Good morning.

Or should I say "meow" for the benefit of our modern day resident Dr Doolittle?*G*

Either way, what's on your agenda for today?

[identity profile] libra-dragon.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Morning.
My agenda:
Work then class
then home for homework and writing my idol entry.

Not to exciting.

Morning! :)

First thing on my agenda for today is sleep, at least I hope that will happen.

Then spending as much time out as I can, as the power company are doing some repairs around here. So there will probably be interuptions on and off all day, and that's not goodfor my poor little computer.

Have a good Tuesday everyone!

[identity profile] worldofcharlie.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
My goal is to be a good boy -- stay out of Carrie's way...take it easy and rest.

So far that's just not happening, yesterday I threw several hissy fits..took it out on people from LJ Idol (apologies to everyone). Got fed up with Carrie's idiot boss and basically told Carrie, If you do not march into her office then I will. I think she tried to tell her boss to let her GO now, since there's not a lot of work (not 40 hours of work) and you know...the lady was bloody clueless...I mean clueless - she can't plan...she truly believed that she didn't sit around her desk at all - that stuff she was doing took eons to complete or something.

Her girlfriend kept flip flopping on the new place we're getting -- that really stressed me out more. Finally settled it last night -- drove there at night - and you know looks safe and well lit in that area - very quiet. In fact there's security in the construction/demolition areas and the guards seem rather alert (competent? wow!). So the girlfriend feels better - going to turn in our lease/security deposit Saturday and take lots of pictures of the interiors (yes I'll post them in my LJ)

*sighs*...

I want Pepsi and a cookie now dammit!

[identity profile] ladyozma.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Hissy fits are OK. I threw hissy fit last night and gonna throw a bigger one this morning. HEHEHE. So I say go for the hissy fit!

But that's just me and I'm feeling very cranky.

Glad the new place looks decent. I am impressed over this security guard issue. Wow, he must not have gotten the memo that security guards are supposed to act like they graduated from The Lame University. :) It is always nice when you see a guard actually, I don't know... doing their job! WOOT!

Figure which of the losers running for president is the less evil/awful. I think my quarter may be the deciding factor. Or old fashioned "Eeny Meeny Miny Moe". Anyone else got good ideas for how to decide from the three rejects I like the least?

Take some pictures and possibly make a friends only post about the dresser. My gosh. You people from live chat last night... expect an email. Soon. I'm looking at this mess and getting angry all over again. The rest of you people, consider yourselves lucky you don't know.

Run in 17 directions at once this evening because we're quadrouple booked.

And most importantly... plan the perfect crime of passion. The man may be forfeiting... something. Junk? Life? I haven't decided just what the punishment will be... but hell hath no fury like a woman...

That's my plans for today! Can't wait to see everyone else's!

A friend of mine [livejournal.com profile] knightaudit wrote a concise summary of the three candidates and their positions on issues meaningful to him. (http://knightaudit.livejournal.com/74988.html) You might find it helpful.

Re: Plans for today?

[identity profile] ladyozma.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll go look. Cause right now i don't like any of the three. But I take this seriously so I have to go vote. *SIGH*

I just wish we had a decent candidate. I don't care which party. I don't care if they are no party. Black, white, man, woman, young, old. I just want a freaking candidate i can get behind.

I am holding in reserve the protest vote of someone just to say "I don't like your options".

Got a snow day today! So 9-3 client is not happening. Which means I probably won't be able to drive to the middle of nowhere for 4-7 client either. No hours suck, but I'm amazed at how easily excited about a snow day I am

[identity profile] elva-undine.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
That's awesome! I'm always excited about less work, even if it means less money. I've never really been able to connect my paycheck with the fact that I do work.
You can do nothing all day!

[identity profile] suesniffsglue.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm the same way! The paycheck is nice, buuuut it just isn't quite as important as curling up warm on a freezing day. My boyfriend bartends and I know he went to sleep at about 6 this morning (because for some reason he was up watching for school cancellations and called to tell me about mine) and so I think I'm going to walk over there and jump on his bed (like really jump, not as a euphemism for "bedroom activities") for awhile. Should be fun!

Man, people are dropping like flies around here. =/

I'm well. A wee bit hungover at the moment, but since I've not had much to drink lately, and nothing more than a few sips of wince since B and I broke up, all it took was two glasses of wine (on a full stomach, no less) to give me a bit of a headache today. Enh.

Good times...huzzah! Huzzah!

That just made my day. I freaking love them.

[identity profile] elva-undine.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope so, because I just feel so *tired* and kind of on edge, which is the opposite of what I'm going for! I took one yesterday at 3pm and just started feeling normal around 11am today. :( I really do hope that I even out after a week or two, as I have heavy machinery to operate...thanks for the support!

You could be a part-time model

[identity profile] minikin.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Hang in there. It took me all of the whole six weeks that my doctor predicted, before I settled into the effects of my Lexapro. And I'm still a cheap drunk now; the amplification of alcohol is my biggest side-effect.

[identity profile] elva-undine.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahahaha well, I don't drink (I hate feeling drugged), so I think I'm good. We're out of health insurance for the time being so I'm on some cheap Lexapro wannabe....bleah. Tell me it's worth it.

[identity profile] xo-kizzy-xo.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
It will be, once you're past the "induction" stage. Most of the side effects lessen as your system gets used to the med. The docs usually say give it a month at the minimum -- some meds, however, take a good 1-2 months before you start seeing the good effects.

[identity profile] minikin.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
It's made a *huge* difference for me. Mind you, there were also some pretty large life-changes around the same time I started it, but I know the Lexapro has been a big part of the improvements.

When I was a child, there was no line between religion and boiling gravy over a hot silhouette of Jane Fonda. Proper maintenance and operation of the billowing spurts of storm clouds collecting erroneously around the punch bowl should not deter you from providing a religious background to the small family of mice living a bewildered life on your tan lines.

Before we can all be one, we must first be free.

This morning I made waffles for the boys. Tigger is home for break this week, and Critter has a snow day. I also cleaned off the kitchen table, which was a disorganized wreck. It is now possible to see the granite again.

Today is Flar's birthday, so we're going to PFChang's for dinner tonight.

Yay for birthdays.

yay for waffles!

I made waffles for the boy and me today. Some day he is going to have a real waffle that is not made from multigrain mix, and actually contains eggs and oil instead of applesauce. Then he will look at me with disdain and ask me what the heck I was thinking.

MMmmmm, PFChang's. Yay for birthdays indeed!

I have to admit it. I use Aunt Jemimi's Complete and water and eggs and oil. At least the eggs put protein into my carb-loving boys.

I would totally use the most yummy and delicious Krusteaz Waffle Mix that my husband bought. But *I'm* trying to lose weight, and if I make the yummy yummy ones, I will eat too much waffle and have no points left for the rest of the day :)

Two cup measure. 2 eggs. water. splash of safflower oil. pancake mix to correct consistency. Two full sized-belgian waffles, a third that has some features in common with snowflakes. I always eat the last, non-full-sized one. With sugar-free Mrs. Butterworth's I actually like it better than real maple, cause I'm weird.

Thanks!

I actually do like my weird applesauce waffles (or I've convinced myself that I do). They are at least better than the oatmeal ones I ate when I was on my yeast free diet. ick.

[identity profile] minikin.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
They sound like they would be tasty. Even better with whipped cream. ;)

[identity profile] chite.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha. You are just trying to make me gain back the 28 pounds I lost!

mmm, whipped cream.

Waffles are the bee's knees.

As noted in my own LJ, I almost got a job today. Actually, I DID have a job for all of 3 minutes.

While out walking yesterday, I saw one of the other brothers Pizza places (there's like 5 in this area, all owned by different people) was looking for a cook. They were closed, though, so I resolved to come back today. I had a little inside info about the dynamics; one of the waitresses at my Brothers, Deb, used to work there, & she told me all this stuff about Butch, the guy who runs the place. Not as bad as the douchebag who owned the sports bar I worked at for 14 months in 2004/5, but bad enough. Still, what the hell.

So I toddle on down there, slogging through the snow to do this thing. I'm almost there when my phone rings. Last Thursday, I'd called a place about an ad I saw for a janitorial position, 5 to 11, like 5 days a week. I'd heard nothing back so I figured what the hell. Well, this woman calls & wants to schedule an interview with me. Shiny. Now that's set up for Friday at 3.

I walk into the pizza place & announce I'm looking for a job. The guy there hands me an application & before I can fill it out starts asking if I've worked pizza before, where, why I left, asked what I did. When I said, "everything," he asked if I could make pie. "Yes." So he tells me to go in back, wash my hands, & make him a pie. Um, ok! I do that & it's a little odd because of course things are different & the like but he's OK with what he sees. Says I know the basics & that's good, he can train me, he'll start me at $8 an hour & I can go up when I learn more. Says it gets REALLY busy & people make a lot of money (which tells me they're worked to death). He asks me if I know Deb & I realize this is Butch. Makes sense.

Finally he tells me that I'm OK & asks when I can start. I tell him that I have a previously made interview with someone else on Friday & I'm about to say that I can let him know by then (I'd've tacked on 3 days anyway to reste myself & the like) when he interrupts me with "Look, you want the job or not??" I open my mouth to say "Yes, but I have this previous item that's in a field I'm trying to get into (LIE) & don't want to leave him in the middle of training" but he doesn't even give me the chance to say anything: "No, fuck it. Get the fuck outta here." What the fuck? So I left. I mean I know I'm hard up for work & all, but...what the hell? Everything Deb said was right, it seems. I could've been there on Saturday.

Anyway, yeah. I got exercise out of it (LULZ SLOGGING THROUGH SNOW) & I still have this other gig lined up for Friday. Maybe if I don't get it, I'll go back to Butch & see if he's still willing. I hear he changes his mind a lot. But I don't really wanna work for someone like that again.

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like a job you don't want, sir. A boss like that would be miserable from that point on and that's not something you need to deal with.

[identity profile] gonadsandstrife.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
No joke. That's become the general consensus. What's that Far Side cartoon about "How nature says DO NOT TOUCH"?

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
::: laughs :::

Did you leave quietly? I notice you left that detail out.

[identity profile] gonadsandstrife.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, actually. I just turned around & walked out. As I was leaving he was bithcing to the waitress there about "Waht, am I living in a trailer park of retards?"

[identity profile] lacombe.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't believe in retaliation, but that would have been one time when I would have really have given you a shout out. Any way you can look up his house and have 50 pizzas delivered there?

[identity profile] gonadsandstrife.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
No point. As a friend put it, "He failed in his staffing quest. You have an interview on Friday."

[identity profile] porcelain72.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I think Henry Rollins speaks for me in this situation. Why is it that when I imagine that conversation, I hear Butch speaking in the voice of the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld?

I got sent home from work because the roads were total crap. On one hand, it's snowing like a mustard-eating bastard out there. On the other, it's a heat-wave compared to what it was yesterday.

So, I'll probably be knitting a little cozy for my new iPod, Fuchsia Groan (points to anybody who knows what book that name's from). I know the skin I bought for her should be enough, but she's so tiny! My purse can be dangerous. Also, I'm an overprotective mother.

iPods make it through Iraq & Afghanistan.

My old one, Little Boots, did. But he was a huge 20 GB kind of guy. Fuchsia is a fragile little 8 GB girl. I'd sleep better at night knowing she has an extra layer of padding.

My first iPod was a 4GB mini. I kicked that bitch's ASS airwhere.

Also, lulz @ Caligula.

Fine, but I'm snowed in and need something to do.

Oh, if only my DPNs weren't in storage!

My entire city is coated in slushy ice right now and it promises to freeze, snow some more, and rain down with frozen ice. It's awesome. But really, who cares about the weather because I found a new place to live!

[identity profile] xo-kizzy-xo.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a big 'ol storm heading our way sometime tonight and is supposed to last into tomorrow. Snow/freezing rain/sleet/whatever else...you know, the whole winter bit *sigh*

I chewed out one of my coworkers today. Same coworker I chewed out Sunday. It just amazes me that some people will never learn, even when you put it right up to their faces.

Other than that, I'm a bit better than I was last week. At least I now feel as though I'm in the land of the living.

This icon is finally appropriate, because, yes, it's snowing here in the NYC too. It'll probably cause a bit o'havoc on the subway tonight, I'll just grit my teeth and muddle through. My knees aren't enjoying the cold either. But hey, snow! It always makes me wistful, and kind of hopeful that I'll turn a corner and see Edward Scissorhands making an ice angel.
